Thank you very much for your support :-) Appreciate it. Like you said, if they suspected something bad then surely they would move the date forward. She had an internal scan done about a week ago I believe and so waiting for 2 weeks to have the D and C does seem a long time to wait.
Since it's all internal, it's really going to be up to the doctor to poke around and find out. The waiting is rough. It may turn out to be some hormone imbalance maybe related to thyroid or something simple like that which they can fix. Who knows? If the doctor felt it was something dangerous, he would move up the date. They can get things done if they sense a problem. The doctor must be pretty comfortable with what he knows so far.
Just hang out together, keep her company and offer support. Here's hoping for only good news.
Yup, post menopausal. It's just so worrying all the time though and obviously me being me, I have looked at the Internet and have got myself all worked up. Do you think it could be one of these:
# Endometriosis
# Fibroids
# Endometrial hyperplasia
I am just really worried about the 'thickening'. The gynacologist didn't say anything about a fibroid but I guess we should be reassured he said he didn't think it was cancer. The waiting is the worst part. She's not having the scan until 17th Aug and then it's a week until we get the results.
At her age I'm assuming she's already menopausal. Any significant bleeding after menopause is not normal and should be checked. The doctor is right that she should have something done to check it out. Some things have to be directly tested for malignancy. The doctors, from their years of experience, usually have a good sense of things by looking at test results but a biopsy is the only sure way to know. In any case, he probably wants to find out why she has developed this "thickening". They'll take good care of her and get things straightened out. It's hard not knowing what's going on.
