i am 20 years old and i have a very odd cycle. It worries me and my partner. We continuely think im pregnant but all the tests, which i take often are negative. I can go 2-4 months without my period. Its happening right now and we hate because we are stuck praying for months im not pregnant. We use condoms. Im not on birth control due to no insurence. It really freaks us out. Anyone have anythong helpful??

Yes, I would try to get checked out just so you know what is going on with your periods.  Like I said, I had some hormonal issues that caused long cycles.  Worth looking into.  Glad you use condoms.  That is reliable when used every time.  good luck

I dont have parents to have me covered under. And my birthmother got pregnant with myself and my biological brother on the pill. So im not sure thats a safe route. We use a condom everytime because we know that having kids is not for us. Probably never will be. But i will think about getting checked out

Hi there and welcome.  Well, first of all----  to help alleviate the anxiety and worry, get on reliable birth control.  Perhaps the pill or at the very least, use condoms EACH and EVERY time you engage in sex.  That goes a long way to easing worry.  ***** Okay, seeing that you use condoms!  GOOD.  That is excellent and cuts down on the risk of your actually being pregnant.  Great news and I commend you for being responsible in that way!

now, I had very long cycles for a period of a couple of years in my 20's.  My hormones were out of balance and I was producing too much estrogen.  I also had a slow thyroid called hypothyroidism.  My cycle was to get a period once every three to four months.  I'd have pms symptoms during that time as well which often similar to pregnancy symptoms so it was confusing until I knew what was going on.

I would make an appointment with your ob/gyn to A. rule out pregnancy and B. do a full pelvic, blood work exam to help determine what is going on with you.

Planned parenthood will provide birth control for free.   Insurance laws have just changed in America.  You are 20 so you are still covered under your parents if they have insurance.  AND, all citizens are now required to have insurance----  so they may now be getting it if they did not have it before.  There are clinic settings as well.  Planned parenthood isn't the greatest place to go for a chronic health situation such as hormonal issues and thyroid issues but it is a start.  It would be better for you to find a long term way for you to get healthcare.  Under your parents plan, getting employment in which you could then have insurance yourself, or Medicaid for those who are under the poverty line.  All options that I'd consider.

So, try to figure out a way to get to a doctor to figure out what is going on.  good luck
