Thank you for your suggestions. I do most of the things you mentioned. But, if it IS fungal, which it "seems" to be (but.....who knows at this point) wouldn't any antibiotic or antibacterial (maybe not antibacterial) make it worse? I mean, when my wife has to take an antibiotic, she goes ahead and buys the antifungal because she KNOWS a yeast infection will follow. Sometimes she has the doc just write her for Diflucan as it's one pill, one time, and easy.
I researched "intertrigo" and will again since you brought it up, but it didn't sound right.
On top of the itching, the "growth" at the top right side of the scrotum that seems to attach at a small, 1/8" to 1/4" spot on the inside of my upper/right scrotum, then just hang in the scrotum,(fish-shaped oddly-fat at the connection point and smaller as it extends to the right and down, like a small minnow(?) and it's about 1/3 the size of a testicle now (it keeps growing).
New symptom this morning: But now I have noticed, just this morning, some minor pain in the lower part of the scrotum, in the middle/bottom. As I said, I see my doctor (my PCP, who will no doubt send me to either a Dermatologist, which I have little faith in these doctors for personal reasons I'll not go into at this point, or my Urologist/Surgeon who cut out part of my kidney due to cancer.
(he took about 1/5th to 1/4th of the kidney at most, and I'm fine according to the follow up CT scan last month)
The surgery was November 5th, '08. This is part of what scares me: I researched that itching can be a sign, or side effect of cancer. (the new "growth" and now pain, possibly?)
And I really never did have a "rash" or anything. The only discolorization is where the "growth attaches to inside of the scrotum" and that is a darker color, as I think it is possibly the blood/pus mixture. I try squeezing, though more gently now, to see if anything comes out, and it doesn't now.
Basically just the itching, then the growth, and now the minor pain. I had some peeling of the skin, but that could have been the dried cream, possibly put on too thick and not absorbed by the skin. I'm trying to offer as much information as possible and keep remembering certain things, like the "lack" of rash and possible dried cream coming off instead of actual peeling of skin, therefore my posts are long(sorry).
OK. That's all the further info I seem to be able to think of.
Thanks again,
Rick
Hello,
Apart from jock itch, the other possibility that needs to be ruled out is of intertrigo. An intertrigo is an inflammation (rash) of the body folds. It most commonly occurs due to bacterial, viral or fungal infection. An intertrigo usually appears red and raw-looking, and may also itch, ooze, and be sore.
Pls keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics.Topical zinc oxide cream like Sudocrem, Desitin are very helpful(apply with a paper towel and not directly with hands).Application of mild steroid cream like dermacort also helps. For the itching pls take some over the counter antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin. In case the symptoms persist then antifungals may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
