Scarred of blood clotting with eptopic beats and svt

Hi I am a 38 year old male can someone please help! I am from Australia on holiday in Japan I have had SVT,s for about 14 years and recently have been getting very frequent eptopic beats plus my heart rate was going from 40beats per minute to 70 in the space of 2 to 3 minutes and I am on 25Mg of Atenolol and renitec for heriditary hypertention. When my plane was landing in Japan I had two very powerful palpatations and then my heart rate for the first time in weeks went steady but when I went to sleep I went into fibrillation and it pounded all night. Over the next 2 days it got beeter during the day but at night the eptopics come back and this morning my lower back had severe pain all day and the large vein area in between my legs have been really tight. I am now sitting in my hotel scarred of blood clotting as I know this can happen with this type of situation. Can I increase my Atenolol to another 25Mg at night to cover the erregularity?

i would not take extra atenolol unless you check with dr. it could lower your bp way to low.

twopack is correct, the chance of a clot from the left atrium making it to your legs is almost an impossibility. Is it possible that the stress of travel has increased your ectopic. Stress is one of the major triggers for ectopics and PVC's as is too little sleep.

Hope this helps.....

Clots form during SVT and AF when blood becomes 'stagnant' in the atria from ineffective pumping.  The clots can then be forced out the aorta and straight up the left carotid artery into the brain.  They are more likely to cause a stroke than lower extremity blockages.

It certainly sounds like you are anxious now and not sleeping well.  That can't be helping.  Maybe your back muscles are in a big knot?  I'm not sure what you mean by the large vein area between your legs??? but air flights are a known contributor to blood pooling and clotting in the legs.  A clot in the leg would be more likely from inactivity on the plane than your heart rhythm.

Are you on a blood thinner?  Did your doctor ever tell you it was alright to take an extra pill under certain conditions?  How long since you have seen your physician?  Unfortunately, none of that helps much right now.

Much as any of us might want to help, we can't tell what's happening from an online chat.  If you are not feeling well and suspect a serious problem like a blood clot, you need to visit a medical facility in Japan for a doctor's advice.  At the very least you should try to contact your home physician or whoever is taking calls for him this weekend.
