49 year old female, history of low blood pressure, low heart rate, subnormal body temp, cold hands & feet often, not heat tolerant, low blood sugar, migraine headaches (mostly menstrual related) and history of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) after wrist injury (resolved after 6 months) and now SUDDEN ONSET Dec. 2010 with headache behind the eyes and blurred vision (ruled out vision changes with normal exam at eye doc) then Jan. 2011 dizziness (feeling unsteady - not room spinning type) with sudden onset hypertension, tachycardia and by Feb. 2011 with continued symptoms - flushing on left side of face only, no sweating. Seems I quit sweating in the past year. My BP ranges as high as 210/140 to as low as 88/58 all in the same 24 hour period. HR from 58 to 145 all in same 24 hour period. Started in Nov and ruled out vision with eye doc, ruled out sinus infection, so then to general doc, referred to cardiologist. Ended up at Mayo Clinic in MN for 2 weeks of testing. Cardiac exams and tests all normal: included 24 hour BP monitor, 24 hr holter monitor EKG, standard EKG, both treadmill stress plus dobutamine stress test and two echocardiograms - all normal. Abdominal Ultrasound and CTA showed some minor fibromuscular dysplasia of renal arteries- assessment was it was too insignificant to cause the HTN. MRI & MRA of head showed some fibromuscular dysplasia of carotid arteries. Twenty plus blood tests plus 24 hr urine all WNL. Docs stumped. The hypertension (HTN) and tachycardia are altering my life. Upon sitting or reclining - normal BP & HR, but with activity - drastic increase in BP and HR with dizziness. Sometimes even just sitting at dinner or riding in car with casual conversation will have onset of tachycardia, HTN and dry flushing of left side of face only (unilateral). No sweating on right side either. Please help! If you or someone you know has had similar symptoms and received a diagnosis with treatment that was helpful, I'd sure appreciate knowing which direction to go. I found this site because a lady named Kathy posted similar symptoms about her son in Nov 99 to Mar 2000 and sadly I don't know how it ended for them. Read all the post hoping to find something to help.
