pimple like bumps around anus

Well, this is pretty embarrassing, but I'd really like to know how to get rid of this.... For the past 20 years or so I have been getting these white pimple type bumps around my anus. I'm a healthy 50 yr old woman. They are sort of football shaped, very superficial and whitish looking. They start out small and end up getting big enough to squeeze like a pimple at one end. It takes months to reach that point and I don't think of them until they start to feel very mildly uncomfortable. It seems like just clogged pores really, but I just don't know. The substance that comes out is basically white, no blood. It's thick and if you smush it between your fingers it's sort of creamy. It's dryish and not ***** at all. Honestly, I was thinking it was toilet paper getting in there or something, but that sounds sort of dumb...I'm a very clean person and shower and clean myself regularly. What are these things? Are they clogged pores/pimples? Is there  way to get rid of them permanently? Thanks!

I don’t know if anyone is still following this post but I had very similar symptoms. Went to my GYN who recommended I see my dermatologist who referred me to a colorectal surgeon. Just went today. She said what I have  is little sebaceous cysts and as long as they don’t bother me and don’t get infected she recommends leaving them alone. Otherwise trying to take them out is a real mess. So only if one gets infected would she even think about it. So leave them alone. Don’t they to pop them or drain them. Don’t want to risk an infection. But certainly see a colorectal surgeon for a diagnosis to be sure.

22Curious-Too, I'm looking for real answers to dermatology questions too. Good luck finding a real explanation. They likely don't know. Do they even care? Probably not.

I have them and have for years too! Pretty sure they are what you think, like blocked pores or something. Only notice them when they fill enough to be uncomfortable and then they go until the next time. Thanks for making me feel better as there's really only HPV, cysts or warts when googling and they are definitely none of those!

OMG I got the same thing. I have googled before and never found anything. I thought I was the only one that had those. I noticed it the first time in my 20s and I am in my early 40s now. I just squeeze around there every time I take a shower. The stuff comes right out (I know gross) and it doesnt hurt or anything. I usually forget about them. Would still like to get rid of them though. I will try the Prid and it would be so great if they would go away. Thanks for sharing to all of you. :)
Why is there no real answers to this question? I have the same thing and I am disgusted by it. I’ve extracted a couple of them and they come right back.
I just went to a colorectal surgeon with similar symptoms and she said mine are tiny sebaceous cysts. Best thing to do is not bother them.. they are harmless unless they get infected and then they are a mess to remove. See a colorectal doctor to be sure. No need to be embarrassed. They look at that area all day!!

Thank you for your reply Dr.
After looking at lots of pictures of seaceous cysts (((shudder))) I really don't think that's what it is. I've actually seen one of those in person and these seem much different. It's like the same pores get filled over and over. I squeeze the stuff out(not an easy task due to location!) and eventually they fill again. They are small, maybe a 16th of an inch long, very superficial and they seem to fill side ways not going down into the body, if that makes sense and the contents come out from one end. It's very white(not pus like at all) and there isn't much of it..
Unfortunately, I find them way too embarrassing to go to a Dr. to look at. so I guess I'll have to deal with them....

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Such kind of bump can be a sebaceous cyst. Generally no treatment is required for sebaceous cysts but if they become painful then it means they are infected,Then surgical excision by traditional wide excision, minimal excision, and punch biopsy excision may be required.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hello--I found this same thing--I took a hot bath- got a mirror, mad sure very dry and popped the ones I could--yes thick pasty inside.  Then put on Prid Black Drawing Salve overnight.  By next day all gone like never existed.  Will continue to use Prid and two baths per day for another week, then switch to Balmex (real Balmex-not a generic brand) then use balmex here and there.  I think the new synthetic underwear and clothing is the culprit, clogging the pores.  100% Cotton is best.
I don’t know if anyone is still watching this question. I have this same problem. I went to my GYN who referred me to my dermatologist who has referred me to a colorectal surgeon. Neither doctor seemed overly concerned. I will let this forum know what the surgeon says.
