Worried Sick

Dear Doc , Im a 28 yr old guy .... This is probably the stupidest thing i have done in my entire life !

I am feeling extremely guilty for what i did and im worried sick because of risk of HIV .  about 6 weeks ago i had
protected sex with a CSW from korea  ( freelance type ). She said she was here on vacation  we had sexualintercourse for about 10 mins and she went on top of me , i felt a strange sensation suddenly ,
because i felt different ...  i asked her to get off and to my horror , the condom was broken .  i believe duration was less then 1 min when the condom broke , my mind immediately
blanked out and the girl ran to the toilet to wash  herself and i did too . I asked her she said she has done tests for
any STDs and all are negative . She looked extremely worried . She also told me that whenever she has clients she will use the condom but this is the first time it had broken . I have a horrible habit of worrying too much and an overactive imagination .

yesterday to make matters worse , i felt i have 3 enlarged lymph nodes in my neck , one in the side ( no pain ) 2

back of neck ( abit of pain )  . This really freaked me out , i saw my doctor and he said it could be due to an

infection . but i didnt have any sore throat or anything like that ....

the only thing i could think about was my scalp acne .

my questions are :

1.  If i do a test now , which is slightly over 6 weeks will the results be accurate ?

2 . Are the enlarged lymph nodes really just a normal infection of my respitory tract as my doctor saidor can  be a sign of HIV ?

3. what is the risk of getting infected if the girl was positive ?

I am worried sick because im very young and i have so many things to do ......i have just started my life .... and i totally regrest this stupid act of mind .... due to this worry i have not been able to do anything properly . I am terrified about the outcome if i really was infected .

I thank you so much for your advise .

there are more than two lymph nodes in the neck.

probably around 99% of the ppl on this site that "think" they feel swollen lymph nodes...did not have them when being diagnosed by a doctor.

get a rapid test done today...it will be an excellent indicator of what the final result will be.  follow up with a 3 month test for a conclusive result...but it is highly unlikely that the result will change.

Yeah go tomorow for a rapid test, it will be highly accurate at 6 weeks although I still suggest a test later on like at 12 weeks for a final beyond a doubt test. The chances of infection are very low due to the brief exposure unprotected.

Dont worry about symptoms, especially since you felt 3 nodes in your neck when i am pretty damn sure there are only 2 nodes in your neck anyway which shows your imagination running wild.

3 months is conclusive. 6 months is the old guidelines.

Other people here have the exact numbers, but the risk for one episode of unprotected vaginal sex for a man is not that high. A test at six weeks will be 95% accurate, at twelve weeks, it will be over 99% accurate. Your symptoms don't mean anything, as they can be caused by anything, even stress and anxiety. You did have some risk, obviously, since the condom broke, and I suppose the sex worker part didn't help, but it's not mathematically a very high risk at all.
