Acne

I am 16 years old, I have had acne since I was 11 years old its always been bad. and ive used several types of acne creams and scrubs they'll work for a about 2 weeks and stop ive tried Pro-Activ Ive been using it for about.. 1 year now.. and it works for a while then I break out and then it clears up and the I break out again, I break out pretty much everywhere on face but it all depends sometime it'll just be my mouth area, sometimes it'll be just my chin or just my cheeks and now its under neithe my nose and my fore head.. It hasnt been bad on my fore head since i was 13.And I have just recently have been getting it on my back and my chest. I dont know if its just a teen thing or what.. this acne is very embarressing and is leaving gross scars. Can someone tell me how I can help my acne and stop it from coming back??

Hi Ally.
As you have found, acne treatments available to the public are of limited benefit and you really need to see your doctor. He can prescribe a topical retinoid gel such as Differin and/or a course of oral antibiotics such as Oxytetracycline which will work much better than Pro-active.
Female acne patients will also benefit from taking the combined oral contraceptive pill since the oestrogen it contains blocks the action of androgens- the hormones responsible for acne.
