by T_MADE, Jul 26, 2009 11:27AM
My name is teejay , a west african and have a HORRIBLE DIS-COLOURED acne-prone skin(since i was a teenager).
I have huge scars and acne discolouration all over my face, chest and back.
its so horrible that i wear long sleeve all day and have to wear lots of concealer to cover my blemishes.i have tried all sorts ranging from clinique to l'oreal, mary kay.but it seems to be permanent.
I am based in the United Kingdom(Scotland,Aberdeen) where the weather is also quite harsh. I was hoping to join your clinc, become a member and also start the treatment. Please help
Thank you.

Hi. Over the counter acne products are of limited benefit for anything more than mild occasional acne. Have you spoken to your doctor about the many effective prescription treatments available? Acne usually responds well to a course of oral antibiotics plus a prescription-strength acne gel. Female acne patients may also benefit from taking the combined oral contraceptive pill since the oestrogen it contains blocks the action of androgens (the hormones responsible for acne).
If standard treatments as listed above result in failure or relapse, your GP can refer you to a dermatologist for Roaccutane (oral Isotretinoin) the strongest acne treatment available. As you are in the UK you will benefit from free healthcare and paying at a private clinic should not be necessary.
Eloise.
