Tip for treatment

by afueraparte, Dec 26, 2008 07:40PM
I have had acne since I was 12 (I'm 21 now). I thought I'd share my favorite tip for other acne sufferers - exfoliate! Seriously, I added this one thing to my routine before I go to bed and I've had pretty great skin for months. Use a soap- and oil-free cleanser. Work it into your skin a little, then scrub all over (not too, too hard) with an exfoliating cloth (usually in the spa/bath section of Target, pretty inexpensive). Pat your skin dry, and apply a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide cream (like Neutrogena On The Spot). If you're really prone to dryness, alternate the benzoyl peroxide every other night with a non-comedogenic moisturizer (like Aveeno). Your skin will look red and a little angry after you scrub, of course, but getting rid of all the dead skin and other stuff plugging up your pores means you should get clearer skin in the long run.

Not touching your skin during the day is also a huge help, but I'm sure you knew that already.
