Withdrawal from Ad's is different than opiate withdrawl.. its more headaches, moodiness, ect.. but there is a chance of seizures so its better to taper slowly off of AD's just in case. I came of of Lexapro by weaning. I cut my dose in half for 2 weeks then half of that for 2 weeks then went to taking it every other day for a week then every 3 days then I stopped it.  I attempted to just stop taking it and switch to another one Wellbutrin and that didn't work out so well.. I have serious withdrawals. So I had to taper off.

i have been on anti-depressants two different times in my life.  when i no longer need them, as the crisis was over, i was able to quit with no problem.  it could depend on the reason for taking them.  for me it was during crises times in my life, for others it it for clinical depression.  not sure where you fall in this.  i would deffinately talk to a professional about it.

Take your time...u r probably afraid of feeling YUCK again and I dont blame you...you know if they can possibly keep you from relapsing and you feel good mentally...maybe stay on them for a while longer..i dont think it is urgent to stop them right away...talk to you doc on the next visit about it...ultram has that anti-depressent component in it so I have heard that depression after quitting is bad...I think cymbalta comes in capsule form so you cant half them...lexapro was scored and i could pop them in half...why dont you wait until your next appt and worry about it then ...you sound like u r doing well and you dont want to jeopardize that right now....I have been clean a little over 2 months, but u know that is really not very long in the scheme of things..I still need to be careful

I would not feel that way...ultram is an addictive drug and i would much rather take cymbalta than ultram...you have made a step forward...that is great!  if u question whether or not it is time to stop the cymbalta, then dont if you are feeling good...I do not know your history with depression...tho some of us had some form or issue with depression to cause us to abuse in the first place...not all but some...talk to your doctor about it...staying on an anti-depressent is not like being a drug addict or anything...almost everyone I know takes them...possibly over-prescribed but if they help you then stay on them...the doctor will usually leave the ball in your court as u r the one who knows how u feel..maybe give it another month and re-evaluate it with your doctor

Celexa is a weaker form of Lexparo. If Celexa is not working you may want to ask you doctor about Lexparo. It is pretty fast acting, taking only a week or two to benefit from it. Also I went off of it with no problem at all.

yes...as gtm said...if you have a problem with depression you should stay on them...some people get on them like I did to help with the depression during WDs..i encourage my daughter to stay on hers as there is an obvious personality change when she stops them....she, like you, gets tired of being on them and will stop them...then when the crisi occurs, I will ask her "are u taking your zoloft?"  and the answer is no...and she will start them up again....I told her not to get off of them this time...it is not worth it for her

I can not tell you what you should do and it depends on how you feel mentally right now...personally I started lexapro a couple of weeks before I quit the hydros and stopped them recently and did ok....most do not have problems stopping anti-depressents but some do...I have taken them a couple of different periods in my life like after my divorce/2 years that time and quit without difficulty...if i had any WDs I did not notice it...I do not want to stay on anti-depressent forever and for me if I dont really need them like after my divorce, they dont really do anything for me...I have not taken cymbalta so I dont know...my daughter di for several months and stopped...a couple of months later she went back to zoloft...she has an anxiety disorder and needs them...I have instead been using the 5htp and amino acids for my brain healing and attitude

It probably would be a good idea to tell your dr. the truth. I'm sure it's something they have heard many times before. If your Dr. knows exactly what the problem is maybe there is something better they can perscribe for you. On the other hand I can't say I blame anyone for not telling there dr. It's not an easy thing to do.

Good luck

If you are/were depressed and the Dr agreed. I would stay on them as per your Dr's suggestion.
