27 days clean. New addiction?

I am 27 days clean from methadone. I am at a healthy weight for my size. I have found myself eating uncontrollably. I fantasize about eating. I spend more money than I should on food. I have never had this problem it's just recent last 10 days. I'm not hungry I just always want to eat something. Is this normal? I don't wanna gain weight I wanna stop befor this gets out of control. But it's so hard? How can you quit something that you need to take a few times a day to live? Any advice? I know it sounds stupid but it's beginning to be a real bad problem.

I am the same . Craving (and giving in) to sweets and carbs... I went to Dr. and got weighed..one month gained 3 lbs. Now is the time for me to eat really healthy organic fruits and veggies I know that once the carbs are stopped, the craving will lessen..and when the desire for something sweet happens..(it's a physical as well as psychological thing)..eat an apple, any fruit...even with a drop of honey drizzled over it..the craving will subside. Eventually the craving will depart...I hope...I KNOW!

It's back to that taking care of ourselves..rejoicing in the fact that we are opiate free, being gentle with ourselves and continue in positive habits..we are creatures of habit...good or bad. Let's continue to choose good :)

I ate 10 pieces of candy the day after Halloween and then I got myself under control.

Yes soo much junkfood!!! I can't help it! It's like a completely new addiction. I'm working out drinking lots and lots of water. I just can't stop thinking of food even after I just ate! I work ten hour days sometimes but it doesn't matter I still end up eating double calories that I should! Today I have only ate breakfast and lunch. It 5:00 and I'm dying for dinner! It's terrible! But I'm holding back. And it also doesn't help that haloween just passed and I'm eating all my younger brothers candy!

I too went thru what you are experiencing during one of my detoxes where I went CT.  I dreamed about food all the time.  It was never about healthy food always about fattening food.  The first thing I thought about when I woke up in the morning was food.  I went to McDonalds twice a day sometimes.   I would eat 5 meals a day and sometimes get up at night to eat.  I have never been a big eater.  I took to long too get myself under control.  You are lucky to realize you need to get this under control now.

I went to my dr. and he gave me Topomax.  It is a medication for migraines and seizures.  Off label use for weight loss.  Started me on a low dose of 25mg.  Not helpful.  I am taking 50mg now.  You need to take it at night.  It can make you really tired.  I did some other things.

1.  Keep busy where you don't think about food.

2.  Stop buying your favorite snacks and fattening foods.

3.  Buy your favorite healthy foods (bananas, apples etc.)

4.  Exercise

5.  Drink lots of water.  Drink 2 glasses before meals and wait 15 minutes before eating.

6.  Read the article below right hand corner on foods that produce Dopamine naturally.  Stock up on all the foods listed that you like.

7.  Eat lots of salad with low fat dressing.  Cut back on carbs.

Hope this helps.
