Bama you are a sweetheart thanks for bringing a smile to my face.  I too have a great job and insurance.  Here in Texas there are pill mills everywhere and a pharmacy on every corner.  I was going to several different docs and my legitimate once a month.  It is 90 bucks for the office visit them 200 for the pills. I was getting soma too but those werent any big deal to get off of.  I was able to eat a boiled egg a few minutes ago woo hoo. lol  I hope the New Year brings great things for all of us!

And me too on the house. I had a mountain of a mess. And to share with ya tex i started loratabs or norcos same drug eight years ago. I used to take 20 a day. Thats insane. Then they got me to pain management and i found oxy. It was love after first pill. I too spend a grand a month. And i have insurance that pays for my meds 100% after a 505 deductable. I spend a grand on the streets. I would get my monthly commision check. Im in sales. And blow it on pills. I could have a new car in my driveway. Yesterday i had three teeth pulled because all the meds i took killed my pretty teeth. I was so embarassed at dentist. I asked him if oxy did this to my teeth. He said yes. Ugh. I hate to hear that your suffering so much. But i promise you. You will feel.so much better. Just a little bit more misery. But no pain no gain. Its worth it. I know your thinking yeah right. But its true. Just keep telling yourself youve got the flu.  Think of all the money you will save. Think of starting the new year new. Youve got a friend in bama

Bkitty I am glad to hear that I am not the only one that let things go.  I have barely been able to leave my room and really do not want to take a closer look at the rest of the house. lol  I have two teenagers and they help me keep the rest of the house up only because they have friends come over.  I know the base boards and windows, etc are filthy and I will have my work cut out for me but it will be worth it.  I am cleansing my body first and then the house.  I have thought about going to Outpatient now that I am off the meds.  My insurance covers it and they have night time meetings.  Over the years, I have beat cocaine, alcohol, and now hopefully these pills.  I am already on antil depressants so I hope that will help with the depression part of it.  Again, thanks for being here and congrats on your sobriety.

Bama, thanks for the southern hug, back at you!  Congrats to you as well and thanks for caring.

I know that feeling,,looking around and everything is a mess! I was always a clean freak as well and as the years went by I became sooo messy and lazy and unorganized. Im still to this day (day 51) cleaning up the mess Ive made. Try not to overwhelm yourself right now. Im so glad that you slept. It gets better and better from here. Now,,,the mental part kicks in. You need a plan on how to deal with that. Have you thought of any aftercare or NA?? It has been my saving grace this time around. I had quit many many times before and in hindsight that was the easiest part,,staying sober,,thats the hard part. Yup food and smell comes back to. You are doing great!! I wish you the best and you are starting the New Year clean and sober-be proud of yourself!~Bkitty

Thank you all so much for you support.  I fell asleep (finally) after posting that last night and actually slept until 6:30 this morning.  II quit because I am so sick of walking around like an unfeeling zombie.  As with many stories on here, mine is the same, started on the pillls and they gave me a lot of energy,  That was then this is now and looking round my room (with a clear head of 5 days) I am like how could I live like this...I used to be a clean freak and there is dust everywhere.  I have not hung my clothes up in months just piled up on my dresser.  I went and got a smoothie this morning.  I just hope I can hold it down. It amazes me in just 5 days how clear my thoughts are and it seems I can smell and taste better too.

Been there and done that!  So sorry you are miserable.  Here is something i share that I hope helps.

I kept telling myself...YOU HAVE the FLU!  It will be over and I will feel so much better.  My brain seemed to get that and settled down a little.  It is hard, but doable!  The Thomas Recipe (bottom of the page under Health Pages will help.  I did not to the tranquilizers and had to cut back on the Ltryosine, but the rest really helped.  Imodium, Imodium, Imodium (liquid or pills if the liquid can't be found or you can't swallow it) will help.  I took double the dosage for a few days (personal choice) and it helped so much..even with the withdrawals in general and the opiate trots which sucked.

Hydrate and eat!  Even if it is just a little every hour or so.  You have to eat something to keep your energy up as much as possible.

If you have Restless legs..it is hit or miss what works.  Walking seemed to help me some.  Hot bath with epsom salts..a little.  I finally had to get my doctor to refill my restless legs meds (non addictive) to get some sleep.  If nothing works, your doctor might help.

One hour at a time is all anyone can ask.  After 2 weeks it gets a little better and I started to say, One day at a time!  Your brain will do all sorts of things to get you to take a pill.  I found if I was hungry..the cravings got worse.  I would try to eat a banana, a few grapes or a few crackers to get that under control.

Good for you.  I hope all goes well.  You have made a good start coming here....this site has helped me so much!!!  Keep posting!!!!!

Hi and Welcome,,,Im so sorry you feel terrible. Im thinking that you may be dehydrated. Are you drinking enough fluids. As they mentioned above you may need to go to the ER and get some anti nausea meds and some IV fluids. The 4th day is usually really really hard but some people start getting better around day 5. Well nevermind you are day 5 today I think. Hang in there and stay close to the forum there are amazing people here that will provide support. You can do this,,i promise it will get better. ~Bkitty

Hi & Welcome!

I know that horrible feeling that a detox brings but I promise it is not forever. You should be through the worst of it by tomorrow and it will start to get better. It takes time for your mind and body to adjust but it WILL happen. Like lulu said, make sure that you are pushing fluids and keep yourself hydrated. If you can, try eating dry crackers. They may help with the vomiting and nausea. And if it does get bad, please go to the er and get honest with them. They see this often and know how to help you.

Stick around here. There is a lot of good support. Post when you can and someone will be around to support you and answer any questions.

Hang in there. I promise it is worth all you are going through.

Hi and welcome to the forum...I am sorry you are suffering.  However it is not in vain!  There is hope on the other side.  Are you taking any medication to help with w/d?  Clonidine is a BP med commonly used in opiate detox and it cut my gastric symptoms by half.  Immodium for diarreaha...Push fluids as much as you can. The worst of the detox is usually about 5-7 days but everyone is different. What day are you on?  You took your last dose Christmas day-am I right?   Be gentle with yourself.  Have you looked up the Thomas Recipe?  I followed it plus the amino protocol and an intensive vitamin regime.  I am 23 days clean and have been eating pretty well since day 4 or 5 but I've still lost about ten pounds and am having a hard time gaining it back.  If you're vomiting is uncontrollable and you're dehydrated you may need to go to the ER and given antinauseants and IV fluids.  I can tell you it gets better...Much better.  Do you have someone taking care of you?  post as much as you want on here-lots of people going through or having just gone through what you are....Sending support....Hang on...Lu
