A little trick.

A little trick.

When I was in the throes of withdrawal icould find very little peace. Sitting in front of the TV i happened to glance at the computer and at a screensaver from Webshots. It was of a mountain lake. For a moment I felt myself drawn into the picture itself. The sernity of the picture captivated me and I found myself downloading more and more pictures. Lakes, rivers, waterfalls, beaches, landscapes and so on. I imagined my self walking on the beach or swimming in the cool lake, walking through the forests and for a short while forgot my pain. Believe it or not, this along with people here helped me to succeed. Give it a try. Download things that you have always enjoyed whatever they are and take time out to enjoy them. Do that and let me ,as well as others, know if it helped to calm you.

You brought back memories. When I first got online ten years ago webshots was the first site I went to. My daughter told me about it. They have some great desktop themes and screen savers. I have the waterfall on my desktop now. I have always enjoyed that site.

Thanks for posting this.....hugs....LS

This is an excellent idea! The psychological and the physical are always connected. Laughing or watching something enjoyful can cause your body to produce endorphins. Using your immagination looking at something you have pleasant memories connected to is especially helpful. Another good idea is smell, scent is out strongest tie to memory as human beings. Any scent that can take you back to a place and time that was particularly special. For many people music is a wonderful tie to pleasant memories. Someone posted last night that they had their "first natural high just listening to some good ol' country music" Those of you who are married might want to do something that I'm about to do being that it's finally the weekend! And this produces all kinds of wonderful neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, endorphins, norepi......Go grad your spouse and have some long time  "ADULT TIME" ;)
(you know, the kind you don't usually have time for during the week)
