Congrats, it gets easier all the time. Even 12 hours makes a difference, I feel at peace today.
Now THIS is about an achievement and a half! I actually slept 4 hours last night! (Only thanks to putting the Clonidine patch back on for about 5 hours!)
I placed the Tens Unit on last night, and it actually helped my back, but slightly.. my back and legs felt like someone kicked me in it with a steel toed boot! (Of course, it's always felt that way!)
Maybe I can try and take a short nap today, and go to bed around midnight so i can possibly sleep more.. lol.. ya right, who am I kidding?? hehe.. But that's okay, I can FEEL again, dangit! :D
Same for me with the 5-htp, it made me feel like I had 10 cups of coffee! So I cut that one out. I take 1 tsp of Milk of Magnesia at night to help as a muscle relaxer. It works like Valium would.
I am thinking some of the supplements recommended are actually best taken after being off the drug you are quitting so they don't cause a bad interaction. Others will help with the w/d safely. Research and CHECK!
I know there are several that don't mix with Tramadol such as Sam-e. I found that out the hard way. I felt so zoned out ! Yuck Tramadol prohibited me from getting the benefits of the Sam-e, I felt worse!
Some supplements do raise blood pressure and some stop the absorption of meds or other supplements, fish oil and flax oil will do that. They must be taken alone, 2 hrs before or after taking other stuff.
A good thing to do is go on a drug checker site where you can list what you want to take and see if they interact badly and also see what their side effects can be too.
I have been sober since new years and I am still F U C K E D in the head. Yelling and picking fights with everyone. I think its all their fault, then it passes and I realize just how messed up my sarotonin and brain chymstry are. Hopefully it will pass soon. I know this is bad advice but I always smoke some weed to calm me down, but Im trying to quit that next month. Get rid of one crippling addiction at a time, you know?
Oh, girl.
That L5HTP was horrible. It was MY fault for not reading and doing more studying on it.
The problem is that I was numb for SO long that I didnt realize what feeling good naturally would feel like. My hands and feet started to swell. I was having trouble seeing well. I had such a strange feeling. Now, in retrospect, my blood pressure WAS skyhigh, and I didn't even realize it. I thought it was an arthritis flare up! I wouldn't take it any more. We have to start listening to our bodies. Something we haven't done for a while.
Also, just make sure you research anything you take.
You are doing fabulous!
Worth a try w/the tens unit.
I tried anything & everything people recommended to see what worked for me the best.
Funny how I was thinking about that too for my shoulder pain right now.
Ha! both got haircuts & thinking of the tennsszzzzzz
yea, I took the 5-htp last night and my blood pressure was sky high! My body can't really handle much I guess.. drives me nuts.. what if something were to really happen and I needed immediate treatment, and whatever that treatment is doesn't AGREE with me?
Alot of the RLS has got to do with my nerve damage as well as the severe pain in my lower back and hip.. I'm gonna try the tens unit tonight! :D.. thing that'll work?
mshell brings up a good point. We all react differently to things we take. Always start out slow. An interesting test is to sit for a minute or so, then taking a resting pulse rate. Log it, then put a small amount (Itsy) on your tongue and let it sit a bit. Then take your pulse again. If it raises 2+ be careful with it. If it lowers, your body will probably do fine.
I have been sort of "reading from afar" your posts.
You are doing absolutely fabulous. All of the stuff you are feeling right now is natural. It is about par for the course. Unfortunately. Someone said: "It's going to take more than a week to undo what we've do to our bodies in a year or " - (however long we've been abusing pills, etc).
Just be VERY careful with any "natural" alternatives to help you with sleep, anxiety. From experience, I had a horrible reaction to L-5-hydroxy tryptophan (which I was told promotes a calm mood...uh, no it doesn't, not in me...) I was NOT told to take L-5 HTP on this site at all, however.
These natural things MAY effect one differently. As with me, it added one extra horrible week of W/Ds to the package. Not fun. Anyone want an extra week of extreme anxiety, the desire to "rip one's face off", no sleep, etc., etc?? Not I, and I hope this helps others.
Hang in there, Angel. You are super to go as far as you have.
I am on day 18 of being clean from Vicodin.
If I can do it, YOU can do it.
We'll be here!
yeah its all normal of course that does not make it suck any less.

Your emotions are a bit raw now. After a week or so they will start to settle down. The sleep take awhile I don't have allot of good news about sleep just ride it out an sleep when you can. Keep hanging in there.
LOL.. GRIN AND BARE IT.. HEHEHE
I went and got my hair cut tonight, so maybe getting out a little did me some good?
So anyway, I'm gonna literally keep myself up until I literally pass out tonight! :D
Yes! All of the above. These people told me that you're supposed to feel all of this.
It gets better.
I know the question........WHEN?
Real, real soon honey.
I'm glad to hear you are hanging in there. I am too.
I am experiencing the same type of feelings.
I am just going to grin and bare it.
Everyone say's it will go away.
Thats a big heck ya. All of the above. Going back to doctor tomorrow for the blood pressure. Still hasn't come down, don't sleep unless induced and anxiety like crazy.
Oh man don't ya just love it. It's making me crazier than I already am. Didn't think that was possible but it happening.
