Anyone here with true Fybromyalgia who has quit all pain pills?

I was diagnosed with Fybromyalgia 2 years ago.  I started on 2 Lortab 7.5 per day and eventually got to an average of 6 to 8 per day.  I started on Lyrica about 1 month ago and I think I really like it (although I can't be completely sure since I take so many pills).  I am really tired of being hooked on the pills and taking more than I am supposed to and then worrying about getting more.  I plan on quitting cold turkey next Thursday.  This forum has helped me so much to prepare myself for what's to come.  I am terrified, but so incredibly motivated to stop this.  No one is pushing me.  It is all me, and there isn't a doubt in my mind that I'm ready to move on with my life because this **** is causing so much pain.  The only thing I am concerned about is the fact that I truly have a chronic pain condition that causes me a lot of pain.  It has been a while since I felt the entirety of the problem, but every time I have allowed myself to feel it again, I have been reminded of how awful it is.  I have started the Lyrica, so that is reassuring, but I'm still not sure what to expect.  What happens if I go through all of this and all the horrible with drawls only to find out that the pain is too much even with the Lyrica, and I need something to help with it?  Has anyone been through this?  I know that everyone with Fybromyalgia is different, but it would be really nice to hear someone else's experience.

One other question I have is about Suboxone.  Can anyone who has used this give me some info on it?  My insurance covers the prescription, but I can't figure out if they cover the doctor's visit.  I know only certain doctors and clinics are approved to administer it.  Does anyone know how payment works with this and if it is worth doing?  If it is, what was it like??

Thanks!!
Laura

I'm on Sub too, and although I don't have Fibro, I do have pain issues. I do feel the Sub. helps with it alittle...very little.  But The Sub is working great in all other ways.
I give the Sub two thumbs up.  lol

all insurance companies seem to have their own policy when it comes to suboxone, the only way to know for sure is to call and ask your insurance carrier...
i know it is covered for pain and addiction...it just depends...
it is used for pain also...so call and ask or if they have a website maybe they would have a list of approved pain medications...
calling cant hurt hun...

yey...i did not know if insurance would cover it for pain or not...just for addiction...she is in WDs so she could get on it...if t is not approved for pain here....i would have re-develop a narc problem so i could go into wds  uggg!...i would need to check to see if my insurance covers for pain....i would not want it to say cover for addiction as we are self insured

I have fibromyalgia, and i am on suboxone and neurontin...which seem to help with my everyday pain...but does NOTHING for my flares, so i take prednisone for those special occasions...
just because your insurance covers it, doesnt mean your doctor will accept it...there has been issues with this in the past, but it does seem to be getting better...i have a website i can send you to for info, and you can fill out all your info and who your insurance carrier is, and doctors will contact you if they accept it or not...i was on percocets, than to methadone and i too was just sick of being an addict...the pain of being an addict was far worse for me than the fibro pain...plus i didnt get much releif from methadone anyway..so i researched sub and i have heard some people swear by it for pain and some say it did nothing...i am kind of in the middle there...if you ever did decide to go this route, it would be more of a trial and error type of thing to see if it will help your pain or not...
also if you really are considering this, you can skip the withdrawals and go on sub and go from there...if you get anything from it, it will be a quick painless detox from the loratabs...just some                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 suggestions for you... if your interested in the sites send me a PM and let me know...
good luck to you, and i hope you find what works for your pain...i know and i can sympathise...
for me...yes, it was worth it, i have had nothing but a positive experience with suboxone..
suboxone involves high, no euphoria...nothing but normalcy...it is addictive, but if you interested in pain management...it may work...it stops the viscious cycle of addiction...you only take a dose once or twice a day...but it would be trial and error hun...
PM me if your interested in more info...good luck with whatever you decide to do...

Diagnosing fibromayaligia is very hard and there is no true definitive diagnosis...no blood test that says...fibromyalgia...so a group of symptoms are clssified as fibromyalgia and that word has been mentioned to me by doctors over the years on several occasions...i did not accept it as my diagnosis tho for some reason...but have chronic back pain and muscle pain for 22 years...and i am getting there....narcotics are just not for everyone...if i could have stayed at my dose of  a couple a week and not plunged into higher doses, perhaps i could have managed my pain with narcotics the rest of my life... i did not and they no longer were helping me at a prescribed dose...so i quit...it is a struggle for many to quit including me...it is an individual decision as everyone is different
