Better for help Methadone or Suboxene?

by FX4Momma, Mar 23, 2009 09:48PM
I started on the methadone today.  but after reading some comments on here that have been very helpful, I'm not sure it's the right thing to do.  I've been on lortabs for a couple years now.  I've tried tapering off and am not strong enough to see it through.  They started me on 15 mg. but it didn't seem to get me through the night.  I'm having the chills, runny nose, cravings.  Hate myself for even doing this to myself in the first place.  But thanks in advance!

Suboxine: doesnt get you high as it has a ceiling affect, it is les addictive, easier to get off of (I have stopped cold turkey before and felt nothing), it is a "godsend" as quoted by some heroin abusing rockstars, haha, and it doesnt screw up your insides like methdone. You can take it home for thirty day supply and with m'done you have to go there every morning.  It is more expensive though. I just got off of methdone cold turkey and may start on suboxine, low dose, to help with cravings. good luc.

Please be careful, methadone can be such a trap. I really think that going from lortabs to methadone is just getting you in deeper. Quitting lortabs is way easier than quitting methadone. How many lortabs were you taking a day? Are you sure you want to replace them with a stronger drug? If so, the suboxone, being only a partial agonist, is going to be safer and easier to get off of than methadone. But biting the bullet and just quitting the pills will save you a lot of future pain. Good luck.

suboxone( buprenorphine)is an extremely strong narcotic opioid, look up the opioid comparison charts, its the strongest pill form semi synthetic opioid. the only thing stronger is micro dispersed fentanyl patches.

long term use will result in the similar, long term wd's, for both sub and 'done

IMO, and many here have not suggested a two year pill users do not take strong replacement narcotic opioids. if you do make sure you have a smart doc that tapers you off,(IMO,once again)
