Can't sleep!

This is day 7 of my detox. I'm not feeling anything other than I can't sleep. I toss and turn all night, then wake up feeling like crap, with no energy. I feel like I'm going insane. I went through 120 percocets in 22days to give you an idea of my usage. What can I do to further the sleep recovery process if anything?

Solos and ajrodr....hang in there.

Solos, the heaviness in your body....reminded me of how I felt.   It was sort of like my back....but yet not back pain....just heaviness.   I had forgotten about that until you mentioned it.

Sleep was a major issue and took several days to get lined out.   I still have a little trouble sleeping but much better.   It just takes awhile.    Commit to better health, and you will see a big difference before too long.

Y'all don't stop now!

Everything you describe is absolutely normal! You body is still Detoxing! The sweating is still getting crap out of your system! This is why they say "Patience is a virtue", it truly is! You should be feeling physically better every day! You are taking vitamins, right? Vitamin B, calcium magnesium, potassium, all of this helps! Please hang in there! You are doing great! Stay strong! Keep posting for support! You can make it!

You hae to give it more time. Sleep should be right aroudn the corner at 7 days, so hang in there. I think my first full 6 hours was 10 days, then i started getting 8 hours after day 14 about in there.
Keep up the good work, it gets so much better!

hugs,
Lily

Now is the time that the real battle begins - the real test. Your body is weak from the physical toll of detox. So first thing you have to do is be sure you're getting nutrition of some kind. If you can eat, then eat like a pig. If you can't yet, then try Ensure. If you've had the runs, then start drinking stuff that will replace electrolytes in your system. Everything you are going through is normal.
This is the time during detox when the possibility of relapse is the greatest. Your mind is talking to you non stop...maybe even yelling at you -"just one won't hurt. I'll take one so I can sleep and then continue with detox. I just need an hour or two to relax". If you give in, then you're back to using.
So, what to do? If you really want this - if you're not BSing yourself about wanting to get clean - then you must cut all sources. Call your doc, dentist, pharmacy, friends, family. Tell them that you're an addict, or at least an abuser. If you can't get meds then you can't relapse. Very simple but something too many addicts don't want to do. You want to be clean now, but the thought of burning all bridges to future use is scary. Do it. Then get some form of after care - NAs the best.
If you don't do those two things then you may find yourself back on pills sooner rather than later.

This is normal. Sleep is one of the last things to fall in to place. In fact, I posted more about my battle with sleep than I did about my detox.
There are several natural, non script things you can try - I found that melatonin worked for me.
Great job.

Hi there, and welcome! Sleep is a very tough nut to crack! I tried many things and it's kind of hit or miss on what can work! Exercise, of course, is really good! Sleepy Time Tea can help! I've tried Melatonin or Alteril, both are natural sleep aids! I've also tried Advil PM or Unisom, OTC sleep aids! Some people have taken Benedryl and say it helps! Obviously, limit your caffeine!

Congratulations on Day 7! That is a huge accomplishment! Take care and stay strong! Sleep will return, it just takes time!
