Coming off tramadol and breaking out into hives

Hi everyone

I've been addicted to tramadol for about 3 years following a shoulder injury. At the peak I was on about 10-12 50mg per day, now down to 1 50mg per day.

Previously when I dropped from 10-12 per day to 3-4 per day, around a month after I started this I developed hives for the first time in my life. I didn't think much of it at the time as it wasn't too bad.

Now however, it's been around 3-4 weeks of dropping from 2x 50mg per day to 1x. I've now errupted in hives all over my body, it's been over a week and there are no signs of it going away.

Has anyone else had an experience like this?

In addition, does anyone have any suggestions on how to taper from 1x 50mg per day down, and over what time period I should do this?

Thanks very much

Hi I once developed this really badly with Amoxicillin after I had been ski-ing in the sun. My face was the only place affected due to sun exposure. I was informed I was allergic to this drug but have had it since and as long as I stay out of sun am ok---------strange things happen.

Ahh thank you so much. I've seen that people get an allergy immediately, but I hadn't read about anyone developing an allergic reaction to it!!

You can develop an allergic reaction to any medicine at any time even after taking it for years. I would stop taking them. You are at 1 pill?
Google  tramdol and side effects or hives there are a lot of posts.
