Couple quick questions about my Suboxone treatment.

I have currently been on Suboxone now for about 8 or 9 months and have gone down from about 2 2mg tablets a day  to cutting one pill into 8ths, which is barley nothing. I do not have any withdrawl symptoms and feel just fine with that very small amount. Hopefully I will be able to go down from the 8th of a pill to nothing without any problems.  I'm going from taking about 15 - 20 Lorcets , drinking HEAVILY, smoking weed, and the occasional upper and anti anxiety/depressant.  I did this for about 2 years and finally got fed up with it  So I feel like I've gone a long way from how I used to be.  I don't even think about getting messed up any more, only about the future and how I can better my life.  I'm currently in nursing school but have not gotten far enough to know much about this subject. But a couple questions I have are: (1) Could I take Tramadol/Ultram for back pains I have. I don't now whether or not that type of pain killer would have an effect on me or my Suboxone treatment.. (2) Also, any one who has been on Suboxone like me and is trying to tapper off, or has completely gotten off of it all together.  I would like to ask if you had any withdrawl symptoms or negative reactions because of Suboxone reduction.  Any info on this will be greatly appreciated...   TIA

I was exactly where you are at when I quit(.25mgs/daily). I had stayed at that dose for about 2-3wks before I finally got the nerve to just go for it. I had some w/d symptoms but they were mostly mental w/d's with some aches and pains. Looking back the hardest part for me was that I couldnt sleep and also some depression/anxiety issues. Ive had some rough detoxes in the past with methadone and oxycontin and suboxone was much easier on the physical withdrawals than the others. Through all of my experiences Ive learned that the w/d period is so darn mental, the more positive and busy you are the easier it goes. I was on sub for 18wks, started at 8mgs and began to taper after the first month. About the tramadol/ultram you really need to be careful with that med, many doctors are either naive or just unwilling to admit that it can have serious ramifications. Im not sure what degree of pain you are dealing with, but maybe try some Rx strength naproxen, many have said Mobic or Lyrica also can work really well. I also struggled with chronic pain (knee/hip) and as much as I thought the narcotics helped the pain, in the end it was months of physical therapy that eventually eliminated the majority of my pain issues. If theres anything you have questions about feel free to ask, I wish you the best of luck, let us know how things go when you go off the suboxone. Take care and Good luck.

1) Treat Tramadol just like any other opiate, regardless of what doctors tell you. Search posts here for Ultram withdrawal and see why. 2) I went down to .5mg every 3 days and had no withdrawal symptoms except for anxiety.
