Curious Question

I'm prescribed adderal 20mg IR once a day for adhd.  I was prescribed recently (a few weeks ago), and take half the daily dose in the morning, a third quarter in the afternoon, and a fourth quarter if it isn't too late, as 20mg IR is a lot to begin with.  It's been helping me with my energy, but I'm wondering will this interfere with my recovery from painkillers?  I never take more then the prescribed daily dose (at most half at a time), and I'm taking AD (Citalopram 20mg) as well.  I know that they both affect entirely different receptors, but I'm just wondering.

For those of you who don't know this is my 7th day quitting from a couple months of 20-40mg hydrocodone daily (with a couple three day breaks in between) followed by a sharp spike up to 120-200mg daily before finally quitting cold turkey.

Hey congrats day seven. Any mood altering drugs will could mess with withdrawal. But if your feeling better then thats probably ok. I can't drink a glass of wine cause if I do my withdrawals come back. Which mine are almost gone. How are yours doing?

Most of my physical w/d are gone but I still have the runs, along with occasional hot flashes and sweating, but that could just be from the anxiety.  The depression is only bad when I wake up and a few hours after that but that's usually taken care of by going out and doing something like going to school working out or hanging out with one of my friends.  The worst part of all of this is the sweating.  I don't know if it's from anxiety in general or the anxiety of not having nearly enough endorphins, but it's sure as hell annoying.

First, are you taking it as prescribed?  Or did they tell you to take it whole, once a day in the morning?  Maybe they told you to break it up.  Just checking on that.

Adderall (adderrall) is WAY habit forming.  I don't think that it will mess with the WDs you're having, but it can cause a whole big ugly issue of it's own.  Also, it's definitely adding to the anxiety of opiate WD.  Your body is learning to calm down on it's own during the first few weeks clean from opiates, and you're putting a stimulant/amphetamine in the mix???  Bad idea, as far as I can tell.  Someone else may have a better idea than me though.  I'm no expert! LOL

Congrats on your 7 days!  That's HUGE! : )

Adderall is a stimulant...a controlled substance/amphetamine and this you know...there is a reason for this and it is because it is a drug of abuse
If u r using it as prescribed for a true diagnosis of ADD,,,then this is probably ok...we are all different...thing is...a person with true ADD does not get energy from amphetamines for add like ritilin and adderall (adderrall)...they have a calming effect on a true ADD person...this u probably know as well'
Most of the population do not get nrg from narcs...most get sleepy...a cardinal rule of addiction to narcotics is if u get a nrg buzz from taking a hydro or an oxy..then u r highly prone to become addicted to it
These are things you know...and u know if u r truly ADD,,,,some have this in childhood and grow out of it...a few do not...amphetamines release dopamine as do narcotics....I took provigil during recovery....not a controlled substance but gave me much needed nrg as my wd from hydro caused extreme fatigue
we do what we gotta do....ur pill habit was not extreme narcotic wise and a dose that is CT for most....if the adderall (adderrall) is helping u thru...perhaps jst beware...as amphetamines do not have a physical wd but a hard mental wd...and if u ever want to stop it..it is another bear to fight
take care and look within...we all know where we are and where we wanna go

keep moving forward

I'm actually taking less then prescribed they started me at 20mg IR, which is a lot for adderall (adderrall).  You're right a lot of people do not like this mix in fact I've read somewhere that it isn't recommended, which I'm surprised at b/c it's actually worked wonders for me.  During the w/d it gave me just enough energy to be able to hardly function, just enough to push me through each day without feeling like a mindless zombie.  And thank you I can't believe an entire week has gone by already!  It's amazing how quickly the days are adding up, and this is just the beginning!

I was having that problem 2 days ago.  My mind was sort of wandering around in limbo.  I could still communicate with people, but I felt sort of detached from reality.  I'm thinking it's a very mild form of delirium, temporary of course.  Congrats on a week Psychobillyqueen I can say that to you because you quit the exact same day that I did!!

Yeah I know people with bad ADD who don't get anything but a normal, relaxed feeling from adderall (adderrall).  While I do get energy from them, I have many of the symptoms of a person with ADD.  Impulsiveness (Which is actually the reason I started taking painkillers in the first place), finding it difficult to focus on any one task at a time (my mind splits off into several different tangents which makes it a lot harder to get anything done), etc.

I'm not worried about the addictive side of it.  As long as I stay within my daily recommended dose it won't be bad.  From what I hear it's slightly easier than quitting smoking, and I've quit many times (20-40 days each time).  I would quit permanently but the fact that almost all my friends smoke and people are out smoking everywhere makes them hard to stay away from for long.
