Cutting back on my Oxy's

Cutting back on my Oxy's

Hello folks.
I have been taking oxycontin for 6 months now I started with 20 mg in the morning and 20 mg in the evening. They worked wonders for my back and leg pain. 5 months ago my life changed dramaticly and I had to come to California and take care of my father. He is dieing of cancer and in his last months. My activity level had to increase a great deal to take care of him. I uped my oxy intake to 30 mgs in the morning and 30 mgs in the evening which seemed to eleviate the pain very well and inable me to take care of my father. My pain has decreased alot since I have lost 80 pounds and the injury to my back that happend March 2011 has healed some. Now its time to get off of these oxy's What I have done is gone from 30 mg twice a day to 10mg 3 times a day I feel a little jittery and find it hard to fall asleep but other then that Im not feeling any effects of withdrawl (withdrawal) I know Ive only been on them a short time but I do feel some withdrawl (withdrawal) symtoms (symptoms). My question is . Is this a good way to wean myself off of these?  I thank all that can help. I relize there is alot going on in my life right now and depression has been an issue in my life. But all in all I feel ok and I can hang

Good that you're here...I'm new, but one thing I know is that we can't give weaning advice. What I can offer is, from what I've read, those who've been able to wean tend to have less brutal withdrawals. Going cold turkey is tough, but some of us don't have the willpower to cut back. Anyway, the jitters and trouble are probably being caused by the cut back. And, if you have had depression issues prior to using the meds, then you may want to contact your doc. We're all different, but you are doing the right thing. Read the posts. Lots of info, help and support here.
