Day 10 Back Pain Getting Worse

well at first i thought it was just a withdrawl symptom but here i am day 10 and theyre is one little spot in my back constantly hurting, ive took aleve, advil, xanaflex, and tylenol, nothing seems to effect it, what can i do? it isnt like a sharp sharp pain, just a constant ache, i think two bones in my spine are misaligned and pinching a nerve or at least thats what the chiropracther said bout my x-ray, any advice would be appreciated

There are moments when I wonder when quitting vicdin is worth it. I quit Nov 30th and I spent this last weekend using the heating pad for my lower back and stretching to get the leg pain to stop or at least lessen.

Hey bro sorry to hear about the back, go drop a hammer on your foot and you'll forget all about your back.LOL  Hang in there man, the way we abused our bodies taking this **** it could very well be from the pills. You have done so good man. Today is 6 or 7 for me. The weekend was tough but I remebered what you told me when I took two hydros last weekend (before new years) so this weekend I stuck to my guns and feeling pretty good today. So thanks chris and hang in there bro. John

have you tried using a heating pad on the area that is bothering you? i know sometimes that is the only relief i get from my back pain. use it for 15-20 minutes 4-6 times a day as needed. i agree that you need to talk with your doctor about how to manage your pain. i've been told by my pain management doc that i'm going to be on the fentanyl patch for a long time. however i am 13 months clean from abusing iv narcotics. that was a beast to withdraw from. i thought i was going to die and i did not have a supportive husband. it was horrible. now that my pain is under control with the patches i don't crave the iv narcotics. best of luck to you. i hope your back feels better soon.

Hopefully a few days from now you won't have any pain! I've put off getting back on my meds for a few days also just to make sure the pain has returned for good. So far no luck for me but I think I'm going to wait until tomorrow. I've been off my pain meds for 8 days and was able to sleep every night until 2 days ago when my pain returned. It's just so hard to be comfortable with that stabbing pain in my hip and leg. Ain't life great! Just kidding. I have a lot to be thankful for.

One more thing.....If I were you I'd ask the doctor if any of those will have any sort of withdrawal effects. That's one thing that I didn't do but wasn't on them long enough to know. I read up on gabapentin and it is suppose to help nerve pain. I think there may be some withdrawal effects from those but not sure. If anything the gabapentin helped while going through opiate withdrawals. I was almost withdrawal free this time around while taking them. I was actually able to sleep at night. Good luck with finding something that will help with the pain. Have you had the epidural steriod shots? They helped alleviate my pain for awhile before back surgery.

Im right there with ya. My back woke me up in the middle of the night hurting. if its not the RLS its the pain! I was so stiff and in major pain when i got out of bed!!! when you take motrin, how much are you taking ? it gives me some minimal relief as long as I take it 800 mg at a time, a couple times a day. it helps shrink the swelling in the spine that is causing the pain. I hope you find something that works.  I too, am scared to try tramadol regularly now after reading all the horror stories here. I have a bunch here from a script from like a year ago or more. I tried one or two the last time i detoxed and they didnt help the pain anyhow.  Now after reading sooo many bad things about it, i wont even touch the stuff this time around. thats the last thing i need is another drug to detox from, and it sounds like its more dangerous to WD from.
good luck to you and i hope your pain goes away soon

Sorry about your pain man.. As for my experience nothing other than narcotics really help manage my pain.. So I have to decide to be Pain pill free and live with the pain, or do I continue to be addicted?  Right now I am using, but I have chosen to get clean and will have to live with a certian amount of pain due to that choice..

CONGRATS ON DAY 10!!!!!

HELL YEAHHHHHHHHHH YOU ARE GETTING THERE

YOU ARE MAKING IT

YOU CAN GET THROUGH THIS

I AM HERE FOR YOU!!!

Here's some I have tried unfourtunetly they didn't help my pain but hopefully may help you. Etodolac, tramodol, fenoprofen, ketoprofen, sulindac, naproxen, and gabapentin. Just talk to your doctor and he would be more than happy to try something else. I wouldn't mess with the tramodol because I know people on here have had troubles coming off of it. I wouldn't know because I was only on them for a week and then prescribed vicodin. I'm sure there are many others out there. If anything they may help with the pain more than advil and ibuprofen. Hopefully you can find something that will help. Good luck to you!

I'm in the same place as you are right now. I'm on day 8 coming off hydro and my back and siatic pain returned a couple days ago. I don't feel like I have any other choice except to return to the pain meds. Have you tried any other non narcotic meds. There are a bunch out there. Talk to your doctor and see if you can find anything else that will work. There are usually many other options it just seems doctors always prescribed vicodin because it's the most common. I'll find a list of the different non narcotic meds I tried and post it. Maybe one of them could work for you.
