Day 15...WOW.....its great!

I just wanna say....I know Im blessed, I have quit cold turkey at least 4or 5 times in these last 4 years, and I never felt this good this soon.  What is a miracle is....yesterday morning, I had to have a molar tooth taken out...it was even complications, because it had split, and it was cracked, thought dentist was going to have to cut my gum to get it all out, but he didnt have too, he just took his time, and it worked out, it was very stressful, and pretty painful at first.  Yes I went thru alot.  But I prayed sooooo hard the nite before, and that morning before I went, and while I was laying in the dentist chair, God is sooooo good.  I didnt and dont even need pain meds, well any narcotics!  I am using ibuprofen 800 and aleve, and a antibiotic.  They are working just fine! I am in shock!  But very greatful.  I was soo scared, that I was going to be in sooo much pain, but Im not.  I find that it works the same way with my physical pains as well.  Well to everyone whom is starting this process of ct, just hang in there, it will get all better with time. I started feeling better by about day 9, and its just getting better by the day, everything is.   I realize I have a long way to go, but my mind is clearer than it has been in a long time.  I do attend church and have gone to na meetings, this seems to work for me.  I wish everyone blessing and luck.  Stay determined to win, and you will come thru this.   God bless

Welcome to the forum!  How great to hear how well you are doing!

Congrats on 15 Days!!!  And you have a support system in place!!
From reading of your experience at the dentist....I guess you advised your dentist that you are an addict and to put "no narcotics" in your chart, right?

I had a similar experience to yours when I was a few months clean.  The back molar broke into 4 pieces as he tried to pull it out (LONG roots..haha) and he had to really work to get that s*cker outta there!  I had already told him of my addiction to opiates the visit before that...and asked him to note my chart.  Many, many people use the dentist as an excuse to take narcotics....rarely do they do a better job than an anti-inflammatory.

He was very proud of me and told me I had a STRONG CONSTITUTION....it's very rewarding to follow thru and tell our doctors and dentists of our addiction.  Good on ya....keep on keepin on~

Congratulations on 15 days clean!  I also need an extraction soon and am worried about that Vicodin RX. The doctor will hand it to me, I just know it.  You should be very proud of yourself for not taking anything. I also agree with IBKleen that it's wonderful that you are involved in aftercare. I need to do that myself. Thank you, you are a good role model for me!! Keep going the way you've been, and you'll be right as rain!!
