HI, My name is Bray,

addict, acoa, aca, co-dep, & anything else that falls in that category. I actually have recovered from my childhood. Thanks to meetings, lots of sponsers to learn from back then.,becoming a sponser yourself.
For me withdrawl startes within 8 to 24 hours. The very first sign? MY stomach !! Then the leg cramps, night sweats, bad deams, skin crawling... right on down the line, When , for me  weeks later I felt better physically my mind wanted one thing . Morphine.. MY body didn't want it anymore, it didn't crave it or need it BUT my mind did. I felt so weak ., i am.. that's why this time I am going to try it with suboxone.
Drugs differ how long they are in your system, everyone is different so probably everyones withdrawl is different.. But we don't have to do it alone anymore. That's the imporant part. I live in a small town, no meetings, only aa, one alanon. I have been using the web for my recovery as far as readings , chatting with other people & attend on line meetings. I was scared to death to stop using b/c of the withdrawl, I realized I was being a big baby. It was the physical part I didn't want to feel. I'd take anything to settle my stomach. !
I am sure any 800- hotline phone number would help you with knowing what the signs are. , est time, or ypu can ask your doctor.
Good luck to you.

Acute withdrawal from opiates generally lasts 4-14 days, unless you're wd from  methadone which can take weeks, alcohol can take up to 30 days, benzos are generally 10-14 days.  These are very general estimations, and everyone is different on how wds affect them and how long they last.  It's harder to estimate when wds start - opiates can be 4-24 hours after last use, alcohol can be 12-24 hours after last drink, benzos can be 6-24 hours after last use. Like worried said, how long and how much you used plays a huge part in when wds start and end.

Thanks for the info.  I just need someone whose going thru the same thing.  My leg cramps are right up there with skin crawling.  I am prescribed Quetapine for sleep so hopefully they won't be as bad this time.  Yea it's the 2nd time in the las tcouple of months for me.  Yeah I'm scared but it's got to stop, the waiting for rx to be filled, trying to make the pills last.  I was on 16 pills aday, 8 oxycodone and 8 percocets.  Everything is a big deal when I don't have my pills. Hopefully I replace the habit with something worthwhile and meaningful.  Thanx to everyone.

The wds are never fun, but there's lot of ways to make it thru.  Drink lots of fluids, look in the health pages for different vitamins to take.  If your skin is crawling really bad take a hot shower or bath, it really helps alot.  Alot of people say exercise helps alot too.  Rule of thumb for opiate wd - try to stay away from caffeine and nicotine if you can.  (I could never drop the smokes, but I cut way back during wds) Any kind of stimulant can make wds worse.  And stay hydrated!!  Drink lots of water, try to stay away from sugary juices.  Cranberry juice mixed with sprite or ginger ale is what I call the "detox special"!!  It's not going to be easy but you can get thru this!  Hang in there - it's definitely worth it!  Keep posting, we're all here for you if you need anything!  :)

I never thought about staying hydrated, and didn't think there was any help for my skin.  Staying hydrated should help the leg cramps also.  Giving up smokes during w/d seems nearly impossible, but anything that gets me through this very trying time is a blessing.  Thanx again Catt.

Hi, I have been clean off of oxys and benzos for a lil over 2 months now. The withdrawls were very hard on me! The wd from oxys lasted about 7 days, starting about 8-10 hours after my last use (I did them intravenously). It is one of the roughest withdrawls I have gone through, but since it only lasts around 7 days, its not as bad as it could be. The 3rd and 4th day are usually the worse. If you can make it through that, then you are set. Benzos, and alcohol are the only two drugs that you can die off of while you withdrawl if you dont have medical attention. The benzo withdrawl was the worse. It seriously takes like a month and a half to withdrawl with the feelings just getting worse and worse until one day its gone. Anyways, the only things I can think that make it a lil better is LOTS of water, eat healthy, and seriously go walking (a fast exercising pace).  Other than that, take 800mg of IB Profin (sp?), tums, and if you can get it from your doctor, Clonodine for anxiety and sleep and Suboxen for opiate withdrawls. I hope all goes well!
