I dont know if this medication is an addictive medicine

as many of you know i am on 20 days clean from pain meds. yes i took one norco when i got my teeth knocked out but that freaking hurt.  My doctor has given me flexerill a muscle relaxer since when my hubby and the speaker came down on me andi was sitting when it hit me i have strained my lower lunbar and it keeps spasming. (dont know how to spell that LOL) i havent taken it yet cause i dont want a new addiction.  Just curious if any of you know if this is an addictive medicine or if it just takes the spasms away and that is it.

Thanks for any imput on this.

Flexeril is NOT addicting.  It's not even a scheduled-drug.  It's strictly a skeletal muscle relaxant, as opposed to some meds. that are give to relax muscles that are in different classes, such as benzodiazapines and whatnot.  Everybody's right, it can make you pretty tired though.

I've taken it before and was just given an RX for the the long acting version of Flexeril. To the best of my knowledge it's not addicting. I also never found that it made tired, but then again we are all so different when it comes to meds. I hope your back is better soon.

I was prescribed that along with hydro for my back and sciatica problems. I didn't find it to be addicting. Like Avisg, it does make you very sleepy. I actually took it while detoxing and it did knock me out and was able to sleep. I didn't think it helped with the back at all though. Just make sure you don't have any plans the first time you take it. It made me so tired I wasn't able to do anything. I guess it did help with the pain at night because it would allow me to sleep through the pain. Best of luck!

well thats good that its not addictive thats what the doctor said but i dont have much faith in them these days. i cant be sleepy while i am at work so that stinks thank you for the info. the spasms are worst at work cause i am running around and at my desk sitting up so much so i dont think i will take it until i get home.

Thanks again

I have also taken it and it did not help the pain, but it did make me semi-tired.

I have taken flexerill, it helped some, but not much..it is not very strong..AT least not for me, then they changed me to zanaflex and it works alot better..i only take it when my back is doing the same...It probably would be addicting if you take too many, but i will let a nurse or someone else tell you for sure...
I hope u feel better
