how long

Hi this is my first post on any forum such as these. I am a single mother of two and on my 6th day without any opiates. I had to do all this myself without any help from family and friends. I first tapered by doing less mgs and would wait 2-3 days between each dose. It has made the wd symptoms so much easier, most of which I get only diarrhea, still some fatigue.
I have to say what has helped me through this time is reading everyones posts. Knowing that I am not alone is such a wonderful feeling and knowing that someone has done i know i can and am doing. Just finding out that I am bi-polar amongst other things has made it difficult but seeing everyone of you so positive really makes me want it even more.
So I thank everyone of you on here. You really are a blessing and continue to do good work for people.
How long will it be before i start feeling normal or as normal as i can be?

I am 2weeks into my Oxy detox. You are doing so well, I could not help but say, "way to go!!!"
Your post shows you have a lot of inner strength so you will make it! Week 2 IS much better than week 1 without a doubt. People here say it just keeps getting better and better the longer we are away from opiates.
The advice here is really good about the physical symptoms. For myself, I have been trying to keep busy with things I enjoy, and also the stuff we all have to do. Keeps me from sitting around with dark thoughts. Four or five days ago I had a pain episode (back issues) I did heating pads, tens, Advil, but what got me through the night without pills was a silly IPad game.

So good you are here!

That's such good news about your symptoms! You'll be turning the corner soon, my friend. It usually comes gradually as opposed to one day feeling great all of a sudden. Let us know how it goes with the Psych. Is the pmdd quite painful? (I'm glad to hear that you're in good general health.) Happy early B'day, btw! (Hi Five to you!)

yes the pmdd is a rare menstrual condition only 3-5% of women get it. I am not on any meds as of yet that's why I can't wait to see my new psych. Where I am from the docs don't seem to care not to mention we don't have many. Concerning the wds i haven't experinced andy rls, or vomitting or anything like that. Just minor sweats and having to go the bathroom. I can see I might have made it worse by not drinking or eating. I just couldn't bring myself to it.

Hi, along with the Gatorade & Vitamin water my friend suggests, I'd make sure that I got 2 to 3 liters of plain water per day. Thank you for answering the question re: dose & time! (Smile.) I noticed you said you have PTSD & a menstrual condition. Are you on any other meds? (Particularly for the former?)

Usually, (also depending on attitude, age & health), people are just getting over the 'hump' on day 6 with your drug & amt. It varies, though. So, using other people as a yardstick can be inaccurate/discouraging/counter-productive. What I can promise you though, is that you will definitely start to climb out of this thing symptom by symptom starting this week.  We've done ourselves an injury & it takes time for the body/mind to heal. You seem to have determination & a good attitude & that can really make the difference. You're Doing It! Hold Fast!

So many people are reading without posting and I am sure that you have made a difference whither you know it or not. Today is the first day of my life. That is the motto I keep close to my heart.

I was diagnosed just a couple of days ago waiting on my psych appt. Also have pre menstrual dysphoric disorder, and ptsd. Just trying to figure out a good regimen for myself. So after all of that getting hooked on pain meds just added to the misery. I know I am strong and have been through worse than this. Having to use the bathroom so much is the worst. I haven't been eating or drinking enough so i am getting dehydrated.

Congrats on your 6th day away from opiates, so very well done. It sounds like you had a good plan before you started, that helps loads especially as you stuck to it. I wouldn't know exactly how long it will be before your feeling better but after the first week or so you will feel a big improvement. Just keep up the great work and don't look back. Wishing you all the look in the world my friend, ;)

Hey there, Welcome & Congratulations on your taper & your Big 6 days clean!
You mention that you have the runs. I'd suggest two things: 1) Imodium as per instruction on the package. & 2) Hydration: 2 to 3 liters of water per day (extra important during detox as well as with gut issues.) Exercise will also help you with mood, detox & sleep. If you can't sleep, don't fight it. Instead try to distract yourself. Do something that gives you pleasure: Listen to your favorite music, watch a funny movie, read, journal, etc.

It's so wonderful to hear that the forum has helped you so much, (I know it helped/helps me & many others.) So, my friend, it sounds to me like you've got grit & are doing pretty darn well. Any plans for aftercare to protect your hard-won gains? (It'd be a shame to have to go through all of this again, eh?) Please, let us know your thoughts on this. We're here & we're pulling for you!

Hi and welcome!!  after the first week you should be turning a corner to feeling better....everyone is diff, but after a week the physical stuff tends to get better....are you seeing someone for the bi-polar condition?  I don't have experience with that but i do with coming off opiates.  Are you hydrating alot and eating when you can?  Take hot hot baths with epsom salt for the anxiety and restlessness....it helps alot....check out the Thomas Recipe at the bottom right of the page....has some great stuff in it...just remember to move around as much as possible and that will help too....sleep will be at a minimum for a while but just go with the flow....you will be feeling better soon!  keep posting for support....this site is awesome for that and info...good luck in your journey and know we are here to help you!
