Your best bet is to go on suboxone. I started the suboxone program a week ago. I felt so horriable when I walked into the doctor's office. But I tell you what it was way worth it. I have no withdrawls, and also like me if your suffering from real pain it takes care of that to. I can't feel my lower back pain at all. This drug for me has been wonderful. I can sleep at night, no headaches, no creepy crawlys on my hands or legs. Abouslty nothing. And energry I have lots of that. It's like I started a new life. And the doctor will eventually taper you down to where you will have;'t to take nothing. Right now I'm on 24mg. That's 8mgs 3x a day. It's well worth it. I went to www.suboxone.com. And it will help you find a doctor in you area. I hope you consider it. You will get your life back.

Suboxone  is opiate based too, so you will end up in the same position if you go on it and try to stop. Sub and methadone are used to get your life back in control so you can then deal with your addiction without the distractions of homelessness or crushing poverty.

I used alcohol/weed to help get me through a cold turkey off of 45 milligrams of methadone. At the time, it seemed to help. But I don't drink or smoke normally.
I'd also point out it didn't make me feel better at all, just provided a distraction from the pain. The only way it may have helped is in keeping my heart rate down. Which the clonidine would probably do a better job. (I was also taking suphenedirine, which helps numb the skin sensations...but pumps your heart rate up, unfortunately).

I tried drinking some wine. It didn't help. I have heard of others trying pot and it also did not help. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I don't know much about the suboxone, but have heard some people think it is a lifesaver.  Like flmagi said check out Fladdict and I'm sure others will come with more info than I have. Stick with this forum , there are so many helpful people here.  Let us know how you are doing.    Mary

I'm guessing what your saying is that you relapsed and are gonne try again. Good for you!  I've heard alot of great success stories about the Suboxone. I don't know personally, I'm a cold turkey girl.  I do know alcohol does not help the withdrawls...it only weakens your resolve, and will probably make you feel worse.  I wish there was a easy way out as far as going cold turkey, but there's not.  I think FLaddict has info under her (his) profile about Suboxone.  Keep posting and let us know what your plan is and how your doing.  We're all here to help. Keep in touch.
