It's ok hon calm down, it was s simple mistake you didn't do anything wrong and it's over now. No setbacks at all, the dr just didnt know, you weren't out looking for drugs and see how upset you are about getting it w/out your knowledge, it's ok honey you're fine.

I agree with everyone else. Dont worry about. It was not your fault so i see no set back. Hope you are ok from what ever it was that you had done. Take care of yourself and try to relax!

You didn't blow it. I see an addictionologist and I had a colonoscopy by a Dr. he sent me to when I was about 3 1/2 mos. clean. They gave me versed and fentanyl  and he was ok w/ that.

No way are you set back... you did not have any control over getting the Fentanyl. Most likely the MD would not have done the procedure without sedating you... if you were seeking out the Fentanyl that would be different!
Move on from here- onto day 28!!

Jim... you'll be fine, hun.  I actually think this is more about the anxiety issues from reading your post.
What are you doing about that sweety?  There's alot of things that can be done to help anxiety... from personal things (breathing, meditation, etc.) to therapy (counseling really helped me with my anxiety,) anti-anxiety meds if you've tried everything else... etc.

There's relief out there hun.  I hate to hear you're having such issues when there really is some relief out there.  Maybe you're already trying this stuff...

SKL1 - the epi is a steroid they put in your back. and they do generally give you a narcotic for the pain (prior/during the procedure) but MOST don't need it afterward.

why don't you talk to your doc and tell him/her you would prefer not to have a narcotic tho, and save yourself the worry?

skl1 - a shot of narcotic will not put you into w/d.  only if you start using again will you have to face that.
consider some support/a plan for after the epi, just in case you do have the narcotic, and think you might relapse and start really using...
but one "dose" isn't going to physically make you relapse. at all.

Thanks for the advice and support, you are right I will have to talk to my Doc about this, I just don't want that dirty feeling after 16 days clean. This is a workman's comp, so I'm not sure what options I have. I might have to delay it a couple of weeks or so.

if your pain isn't that severe, and manageable, then why not?

either way hun... you'll be ok.

just really believe it, and you will.

you DO NOT have to let one little procedure set you back.  you really don't...

and keep posting, it helps... alot!

:)

any use of narcotics could induce precipitated withdrawl
when i go to a new doctor or to the er, i tell them that i am a recovering opiate addict, i would like to try non narcotic medication first
i also tell my sponsor before i visit the er
if you can read pgs, 98 and 99 in the basic text
bring it up as a topic in a meeting
if you have a terminal illness please read the book in times of illness
i always say if you stay clean long enough you will be faced with an opportunity to take pain meds
i have had 2 oral surgeries and a short round of chemo/inerfuaron while in recovery
i took percocets the 2nd oral surgery but made it through all the other medical dramam without narcotics
at the end of the day a little pain is not worth me being on drugs, hungry and homeless
i hope you feel better, if you tell us what the procedure was maybe someone will post that has been through it
i disagree with the idea that this could not possible set you back
it only takes one drug to kick in the compulsion to use
my body does not know the diference between a drug that the doctor has given me and a drug like herion
i experienced this early in recovery when i had those surgeries and this summer at 4 yrs clean when i went on chemo
please be careful, i had alot of help and stucture, thats how i made it
but as long as you do the next right thing you should be fine
