Thanks for your support! I guess I am going to have to just go through this without medical. I have no insurance right now, due to the fact that I lost my job last year. It would cost be a fortune to go.
I hope your Thanksgiving went as well as could be expected.
When I detoxed from a high dose of oxycodone, I vomited for days. In fact, I went to the ER because I was having chest pains and I thought I was having a heart attack. It turned out to just be acid from the hurling.
I was upfront with them that I was in withdrawal. I had my bottle of Gatorade with me and a nurse snatched it out of my hand and told me to stop drinking it.
I told her all the addicts recommended it and she asked me if I wanted to listen to addicts or medical personnel.
So I'd say contact your doctor about what you should or should not eat. Everyone is different in what they can tolerate. Ensure was instant puke city for me. I found I could eat yogurt.
Sorry the timing of your wd ruined your Thanksgiving. You'll be back on feet by Christmas so look forward to that.
Welcome! Be proud of yourself for taking the initial steps to getting clean. I Know this is very hard right now. Unfortunately, it is going to feel a lot worse before it starts to feel so much better. Your third and fourth days are usually the hardest. Please look for the Thomas Recipe on this site to help you. You will feel anxiety and nausea, restlessness as well. It is ALL normal and I promise it won't kill you. Get some gatoraide and Immodium to conquer the diarrhea and also Hylands Restful legs will help with the jitters. You can find it at any pharmacy or a Walgreens, Wal-mart etc.
Just breathe and know so many people are right behind you to help you get through this.
Congrats for quitting and taking the first step toward taking back control over your life. Are you alone or is someone with you to help you with food and liquids? I can't stress how important it is to stay well-hydrated. Gatorade would be a great choice for you right now. And avoid alcohol like the plague. It just makes withdrawal worse and you could get dangerously dehydrated.
Can you tell us anything about yourself - how long you were using and how much? Did you plan your detox?
Hi there and welcome.Congratuilations on your clean time!!I know it doesn't sound like a lot but wvery day counts.AS for your physical discomfort, try some gatorade. It's important to keep ourishment in your body and liquids to prevent dehydration.Try to eat bland foods also;this will help with the stomach discomfort.PAWS (post acute withdrawl symptoms) usually last I believe for about 2-7 days in some people. On the health pages there is a toin of info on this as well as other things like taper programs vs cold turkey,etc.etc.You can do this my friend.Take it 1 day at a time. We've all been in your shoes so feel free to pm me or just keep posting.Good luck to you and always keep your guard up as this beast e are dealing with will try to find ways into our lives.Take care and keep us posted.~Anne
