how long will then misery b?

Wow this forum is great. I feel so loved to kno yall seem to get where Im coming from. I probably should have mentioned when I first quit cold turkey & the family put me in rehab I was taking 700-900 mg daily perscribed oxycotin oxycodonoe perks. However this time with the vikes I only got up to 100 ( I kno i say that like its no big deal..but yall seem to understand) & like I said when I got clean it was everything to me. I kno I shouldn't of let the doc giv me any narcotics since I had such a serious problem with them (fiance Wanred me ab it also) but thought I could handle it. Now as I said I'm scared to death when I tried to stop wd started that night. I just didn't think by it being vikes it would do this to me. I'm on a tight schedule bc of my job and I'm supposed to b getting married soon. Dont want thr family finding out either. So HOW MANY DAYS WILL this wd be? I kno the first time IT TOOK at least 3 months to get my body back together but look hoW MUCH I WAS TAKEN AND FOR HOW LONG (6 YEARS)this.time its only been since October (4 months) & just vikes..I'm just really scared and didn't expect this from just vikes...& again thanks wish I had this the first time I was going thru this..

Hey, congats on your decision to quit, Monday is the big day, eh! Good for you. I agree with Selfie stock up on everything and plan ahead, it also pays to start taking the correct vitamins early and start hydrating yourself with as much liquids as possible, to help build up your strength for the jump! Eating healthy and exercise will help, especially the exercise which helps so much with the horrible RLS you get. Take walks in the fresh air and try to keep as busy as you can. I do agree with the need for some counselling and or meetings, just to keep all the hard work and yourself safe from relapse, its a must for good recovery. Your doing amazing, don't give in for no one or nothing, dig your feet into the dirt and refuse to back down, just think your a week and hopefully only a little bit away from being free, go you!!! :)

I admire what you're doing; I was just saying that you DO need to make a plan for long term recovery. Yes, especially during detox, it is one day - one minute - at a time, but during those days you need to set up roadblocks. If you don't, you'll get through withdrawals and you're head will start talking to you, things like "just one won't hurt", or "you've worked so hard, you need a break". I speak from experience, and based on your history, you've already heard the voices. You're going to put in a lot of time dealing with this; it's a shame if in a month or two or three you relapse because you didn't put up roadblocks, or didn't put a recovery plan in place. All the best to you.

One more thing. Start the vitamins right away especially the B ones. Feed your body lean protein and stock up on immodium and gatoraide/watered down OJ etc. Get your errands done now, nice clean sheets and some comfort easy food for the first 3 days. Preparation really does help.

Hi Chanel, Were you on 100mg a day of the vic's? As all said above day 4-5 you realize your going to make it (as long as you don't cave) and by day 9 I felt physically about 70-80%. Yes, it does take a good 30 days to fully sleep well for many and at 90 days your brain and nervous system really level out. There are many things to aid in this healing process. Check out the amino acids for recovery and the thomas recipe. Sleeytime tea, hot baths, music and exercise (even short walks to start) were me saving grace. Stay close to this site as you'll get much support and encouragement. There are a couple members on here I consider guru's in the detox dept. and if you want i can PM you there screen names. There post and help were my lifeline 2 + years ago. Congrats on the marriage. So exciting! Oh, make sure there are no pills in your house or that you can access. That will just play havoc with your efforts. Much luck to you.

After the main withdrawals were over (5 days) I had the RLS that kept me up. I started drinking Kava tea and taking other herbs and I started sleeping pretty good after about 7-10 days. I slept those night but was restless you know. After the 10 I think I was golden for the most part.

"Just vics" brought on my detox from hell. I understand that you're getting married, that you don't want your family to know, but you've not mentioned anything about plans for a long-term recovery. As an addict THAT, in my opinion, should be your priority - yes, above everything else.
Anyway, detox will take about 5 days, but normal will take months. And if you don't make a plan you'll be back, same post.

Hopefully it will be shorter for you this time. When I read how long you felt bad last time...yikes! It should be better though...4 months isnt that long.

Thanks Im getting married this spring.  & yes Ive had that sobriety before and I want it again. When ur sick and tired ur sick and tried. Its always the RLS (legs) & insomnia that gets to me the worst. I feel like im so scared bc I kno what happend the first go round with the wd and it was a longggggggggggg time b4 I started seeeing any change. *mayb bc of how many years i was on them)  guess im so worked up and worried bc I dont want to go thru that again. But surely with vikes & perks it shouldn't b as extreme ad what I went thru b4???specially with it only taken them for these 4 months????

Its different for everybody but many feel better around day 5. Just stay with it and you'll get through it. Like you said, you done this before so you know what it takes.

Depending on how your body handles it. I would 5 days of the worst part, then week or so after. Then maybe some mental anxiety or blues. Everyone is different. You can do it. When is the Wedding? Wouldn't it be wonderful to get married and have your honeymoon totally clean?!!!  Go for it.
