How long can he live like this?

My husband drinks alcohol, EJ and coke and takes about 5 vicodines and 2 to 3 muscle relaxers everyday. This has been an on going thing for the last 5 yrs. The alcohol for about 15 yrs. He is 48 years old and looks about 59 yrs old. I dont have any emotional feelings for him any more because of what he has become. This is terrible to say but Iam just waiting for something bad to happen to him hoping that he will wake up and relize that he cant continue like  this.  How long can his body take this?

magi is absoulutely right. that combination of drugs, with the coke is deadly. his heart will give out and it will be too late for help. true he needs to want to quit, but you can help him see the light, either that or leave, but his heart is probably double it's size right now. im so sorry to hear this.

Very sad. Chances are, at his age, a heart attack or stroke will get him before anything else. The combination he's messing with is really deadly, and if he doesn't get help and get clean, it's just a matter of time. Like so many, he just won't wake up some day.  I hope he seeks help soon.  
Take care of yourself because you can't help him unless he wants help.

It's really impossible to say without testing how much more his body can take, and frankl with all of that, it isn't exactly taking it. He has problems for sure that are currently not diagnosed.  I'd be most concerned for his liver, but it's much more complicated than that.  I understand you don't have any emotional feelings for him, but you did seek help, so maybe you'd like to point him in the right direction, just for him?  Is that how we can help, or do you just need support in dealing with all of it?
