I dont know how to withdrawl while I really have to and need to work. Help!

Im an office manager and my boss absolutley HATES it when I miss work plus it is a really busy time at my job and I have to support myself so if I miss work I most likley wouldnt get paid.  It really ***** because Ive been taking pain killers(loratabs, percocets) for 2 yrs. but here lately with my addiction growing and job stress Im begining to need 3-4 pills through the day just to function. I have to have one to get up. I have to get up really early too! I vomit, have diarrea, stomach cramps, restless as hell, lethargic, I mean its horrible. Please help what should I do? I want my life back. I dont want to hang out with anyone anymore and im losing my memory and my mind.

I agree with Rose... even tho your boss won't be happy about you taking a few days off, you should.  I've been thru the most horrible withdrawals at work before, and I was useless, miserable and usually ended up going home early.  If you don't want your boss to know what's going on, and your w/d is that bad, your best bet is to not go in.  Definitely try some of the other suggestions, but at the end of the day coming off of these pills and taking care of your health is more important than your job.  Plus, if you can't get off the pills, you'll most likely lose your job in the long run anyways... I know I did.  Best of luck, and don't give up - you can get thru this!!  Stick around this website, there's alot of great people here that can help support you.

3-4 pills a day and your experiencing those kinds of symptoms??  those are pretty extreme....vomiting and Rls, the big D i can see, but if your having those kinds of withdrawals off of that few pills.......you are not gonna be working......in my opinion.  i never had withdrawal like that, and was taking much more than you are.  That's why I would worry.......Time off is what its gonna have to be.......you can try, but I would try at least on a Wednesday.....to get out early that day if needed and have the rest of the week and weekend to try to recover.

It goes to show how we are all different in how withdrawals affect us.

God Bless,
Nauty..........

It's tough when you feel like you can't miss work, but let me ask you this. If you had the flu would you still feel like you had to go to work? This is nothing more than a bad case of the flu that you already know will last for only 3-5 days.

This is one of the most important things you will ever do and your boss will be glad to have his old employee back once this is over. I know you need to work and I understand that but if you could just use your normal days off in a week and just add one, maybe two days, to that then the worst will be over! If you feel guilty about calling in just remember, you have a bad case of the flu! Nothing more nothing less.

I will be praying for you! Hang in there and God will help you get through this situation with your job and on the road to a healthy recovery.

Hi there....welcome to the forum.... I am glad to hear you are only on 3-4 pills a day... I was on 20+ per day. I am a stay home Mom and at the time was working part time at my old job...so I chose to taper....it worked very well for me but I did a long taper so it was almost painless. Do you think you have the strength to taper if not is there someone you can trust to give you your pills at the appropriate time?

Also, like stated above follow the amino acid protocol that will help alot!

Good luck and keep posting and let us know how you are doing!

Hi...and welcome.  I agree with Mary; I had to work as well while quitting so I tapered.  A little uncomfortable but doable.  If you prepare a taper plan, follow the amino protocol and check out the Thomas Recipe, you should be OK.  While I was tapering, I also to Aleve, drank plenty of fluids and ate as well as I could.

As time passes, you'll start noticing how good you'll be feeling.

Your not alone in this, many here have the same problem.  Is there anyway you could taper down.  You really need to do this before your 3-4 pills turn into 10-15. You will find so much support here. Avisg can help you with a taper plan. The other option is to take a long weekend. The worst is usually over in 3-5 days. Keep reading and posting. It's early right now, but others should respond soon.
