I don't want to relapse

I have not had an oxy for 964 days - not had if I say so myself.  At one time I was up go 160 mg/day - some for legit pain control, some to get high.  PROBLEM:  I have to go for surgery to remove a lump on my tyroid and know I will need pain control. Will short time re-use of opiates hinder my recovery. Please advise - I would hate to go down that road again.

Congrats on the clean time!  I agree totally with the above posts.  Most important is to tell your doctor the truth so you can head off a problem before it becomes a problem.  Listen, we've all got a lot of life to live without getting into a car wreck, breaking a bone, having to have surgury whatever, so your success will be as good as your plan.  Tell the doctor the truth, and have someone dole out the meds according the the directions and how you feel, and if you can't have someone with you 24/7 have them leave only enough pills for the period of time their gone, also write a schedule of when you took the pills and when you can have another one only if you need it.  This is a legit. reason to take them and i think your clean time stands because your not using, your taking for real reasons for a limited time!!  Good luck to you and best of luck on the surgery, been there and done that, hope all goes well.

Thanks for the support and kudos. Haven't been here for a while and I really miss the support - we all need it at times. I was really counting (pun intended) to make it to 1000 days.

I will give the pills to my wife to give to me as required. I am however dreading that opiate buzz because I know I will love it. ..... and want more and more.

Sorry to here about the surgery, I pray it goes well. But way to go on that many days. I totally agree with vicki, if you have someone else give you the meds, you'll be fine.  Great job on the clean time, you are a inspiration to me. Gives me light at end of the tunnel. God bless

Wow!  That's a lot of clean time!  Good for you!

This is easy...post op pain med is not a problem IF you have controls in place:  Give someone else your pain meds to hand out to you on a schedule. Take as ordered until you can take Tylenol or Motrin. It won't effect your clean time. We have been in this situation before and having the pills controlled works! You'll be fine but you don't need to be in pain!

Good luck!
