I don't have a doctor or any insurance...I here you but i don't know what to do.Is there anything i can do to help with the WDs from Tramadol??? Thank you so much for ever ones support it really helps.
Sorry, I just got here! It really needs to be tapered, but obviously it can be done cold turkey.....I did it! I was on about 15 pills a day until March. There are things you can do to help the WDs, but it will be pretty tough to stop. It has AD qualities and opiate qualities, so it gets you in a way that regular opiates don't. In my opinion, the best thing to do is to talk with your doctor, and get a plan for stopping. You really need to get help doing it, even if you don't have a regular doctor. Just find one who can help you!
I'll help any way I can! You can do it! It's scary but doable. Just talk with your doctor, and we can help to support you here! : )
kristia,
i was also addicted to tramadol .I have been clean for about 3 years and three months . Ok how many are you taking ? you are going to need to taper off .
Do you have a doctor that can help you with a taper plan .Many people are told that its not addictive it is and as you are finding out the wd is REALLY bad .I am gald you h

It can cause sezuires becuse tramadol works in two diffrent ways one for pain and the other like a ssri antidepressant so its a double whammy ..

Hi Kristina~ I think Avisg is around now. I'll send her a note. She also has a lot of experience along with Madtram.
Tramadol is such a weird animal. If you take too much ( for you ) in a day, you can have a seizure. It's not at all safe above it's recommended dose. But, all people are different.
The withdrawal can be difficult because of the anti depressant in the drug. So, on top of
physical symptoms you can get hit hard mentally. It's always better to taper. Yes,call the doctor.
Hang on here and keep posting~
I didn't start taking Tramadol until it was prescribed to me about 2 and a half months ago by my dentist than it was prescribed to me for joint pain shortly after that.I told the doctors that i was a recovering addict and they said it was fine for me to take the Tram...
Yes, it can be dangerous to quit CT from TRAMADOL. It should be tapered under a doctor's care. The good news is that you have not been on it long so that may be in your favor. Since you are a, member...you said, of NA, do you have a sponsor or are you friendly with the women of your home group? What I am asking is if there is anyone who can support you through this. Certainly you will need someone in recovery to help you through this emotionally, but I was also thinking of someone who can go to the doctor with you and understand what the taper plan will be and can advise you. You know what I mean?
In any case, please phone your doctor and get in to see him/her ASAP. In the meantime, since it is a the weekend, if anything happens such as your feeling not right, get to the ER right away.
It is quiet this time of the day so please be careful while members come in and respond to your post.
I wish you the best.
Until tramhater gets here, I can tell you only what I've read here. IF I remember correctly, tapering is necessary with tramadol because of the risk of seizures. I have not idea what goes on chemically in the brain, but that's why seizures are a risk.
Try to stop beating yourself up about this. You were uninformed and once you realized you were behaving like an addict again you took action. That's a good thing! Can you share with us why you were put on tramadol as soon as you completed rehab? Was it an addiction doctor or pain doctor?
Yes...I wont to rid my addiction.this is nothing new for me" addition",I was addicted to opiates mostly methadone for 3 years I have been clean for close to a year now or i so thought i was until about 2 weeks ago when i stopped taking the trimodal...The reason i stopped taking it is because i started having of addictive behavior and withdrawals so i went on the Internet to find out everything i could about this drug and when i did i had sooo much shame i could not stop crying and have been extremely depressed.I have a son who's going to be 7 and i am very scared that all of my hard work and good progress that i have made with my son and my ex husband science i got clean will be thrown away.If my ex husband found out about this it would not be good all the way around so i have been extremely scared for that reason to start detoxing from the trimodal but i also know through being a member of NA that it's just not right to try and rationalize this.I know the only thing for me is to stop,so i new that i could not wean myself so i got red of the trimodal this morning but i did not know it could be dangerous coming off Tram KT!What should I do there's a detox/rehab center that i can try and get into they help you detox for a week to 10 days and there a lot of rehabilitation they provide while helping you detox.I have been there twice once June of 2009 and the second time was early January of 2010 that was the time everything really grabbed me and the first time i got clean for me and have been doing great until this with the Tramadol...I don't know if I should try and do this at home or if it can be to dangerous???
I just sent 'tramahater' a PM. Hopefully she'll get it and respond to you.
She's our Tramadol resident expert.
I will say that it's dangerous to quit Tramadol CT, so I've heard/read around here, but I'm not certain of the reasons why.
It's great that you came to us... means you're trying to step onto the path to recovery. Do you want to rid your addiction? Doctors will SAY that Tramadol isn't addictive, but it certainly is.
