Get up and get busy! I know it's hard to do because of lack of energy, but it does help. Sounds funny but get in the car, roll down your windows and blast your music and sing, it HELPS, just give it a try, ok?
you have to quit and you came to the rite place to do just that .
Dane's right - you have to stay busy and find other things to occupy your time - sitting around and thinking about the pills is only going to make you feel worse..
ANYTHING will help - go for a walk, read, talk to a friend/family member, watch a movie, cook, whatever - just DO something. Good luck to you!
agree....get up and get busy. Dont let your mind dwell..when it pops in ur head, erase it and get busy....i used a rubber band on my wrist and popped it everytime i thought about it...used that to stop smoking too! LOL I believe that the uncomfortable feeling of popping urself gives a signal to ur brain that when u think that thought..it will hurt LOL Pavlov did an experiment on this and it is accepted theory!
Itis also true that when u move, or exercise (great idea), ur energy level increases...exercise will also increase endorphins u need right now. Even a book can help...hit a meeting (one of the best ideas)clean out a closet...just do anything verses defeating urself..u have control of your thoughts
Everyone has given you good advice.....Also turn up the music, it is very healing.
you can't STOP thinking about pills
you can't STOP thinking about anything
whatever you resist will persist and grow stronger
you have to START thinking about something else
i was taught that prayer helps. but i was also taught to avoid praying for the obsession to be removed. the mind doesn't do well with negative instructions. imagine praying "please don't let me think about the monkey on the couch, please don't let me think about the monkey on the couch." with every repetition you're thinking about the monkey on the couch, keeping the offending thought right where you don't want it.
instead, pray for what you want. for me in was "please grant me peace and senerity in my recovery."

I agree with the abouve posters you need to get bizzy an idle mind is a dangerous place for an addict find something to focus on a movie or book a puzzle works good something that requires constration .....turn up the music and get lost in it get outdoors and appreciate nature go for a walk or hike vigorous exersize helps to as you gain clean time the pills wont call your name as bad right now just focus on something elsefirst its a thiuyght.....your not responsible for that then it becomes an obsession you are responsible for that if not niped in the bud it can very well become an action take this very seriously....good luck and God bless......Gnarly
Thanks everyone....I know keeping busy is the key, it's just doing it that's the problem. I'm in such a bad mood and am feeling completely overwhelmed by the fact that I can have any, it's totally consuming me and I can't live like this everyday. It's been a month since I have gotten a bottle and I just wish this would go away....I'm kind of miserable.
