I'm addicted to Oxy and I would like to get off it without going to rehab.

I used the day after I posted that last one because I kinda felt like I was dying. But since the 5th I have not taken any.

If it has been 1 1/2 days, I would try and keep the ball rolling. For most of us it seems like days 3 and 4 are the worse. Once you hit the one week mark the physical symptoms seem to start getting a little easier. Just stay mentally focused and know that you can beat this addiction just as many others have. Be sure to post your progress on here as it helps to look back as a reminder of the fight you endured to get clean. Hang in there!

200 mgs of oxycontin?  time release?  r u chewing, snorting etc?  hate to ask but on the forum we r all open and to help sometimes it is best to know how far u r in to ur addiction

if u r swallowing ur pills..and taking them spread out thru the day..might be a bit easier...will be honest...200 mgs is a dose to deal with..altho have seen 600 mg users stopp..it all depends on how u wanna do it

tapering works for some//but not most..at a 200 mg habit...tapering down a bit may help,,u will probably have to give them to someone to dole out cos if u have them u will take them..cos as defined//we have no control over our doc...but we can have some if we put our mind to it

Basically, making a plan...picking a QUIT day and sticking to it..plus finding support//meetings r everywhere and r free..will help if u need any...u can pm me..u need some down time when u jump off

keep posting

Sorry I really didn't put any info on my situation pretty much I started when I tore my ACL and MCL about a year and half ago. I take 200mg a day. They are not prescribed any more. But I'm basically broke because I'm a student who is unemployed. Just anything I can do to decrease withdrawel would be great.

If you post a little more info about your situation everyone will be able to help more. How much do you take a day? How long have you been taking them? Are you prescribed them by a doctor? If you are your doctor may be able to prescribe some other meds to help.
You could go cold turkey or you could try and taper. If you have any underlying health conditions you may want to taper. The one problem with tapering is it takes so much willpower. I tapered before in the past and had little to no withdrawal symptoms. I have also went cold turkey and the worst of the physical symptoms start getting better around day 5. At the top right of the screen you will see the "health pages". Look for the amino acid protocol. It gives a list of vitamins and supplements that will help during withdrawals. Also be sure to eat healthy and push the fluids. Exercise may seem impossible during the first week but force yourself even if it's just a short walk around the block. It makes a world of difference and really helps to speed up the whole process.
This is a wonderful place to get the support you need. Read as many posts as you can because the more knowledge you have about addiction the better you will be. Also be sure to post as much as you can. It helps by being able to look back and see the progress you have made. You will make some wonderful friends on here that will help you during withdrawals and continue to help once you are clean. Just stay strong and stay positive. Many have been in your shoes and many still are. Know that you can beat this addiction! Best of luck and if you need anything, please let me know!
