Introducing Notes

Hi,

We've had a lot of requests from our members for the ability to leave a quick note of support, congrats, a thank you, or even a hug, to other members without having to start a new discussion within the forum. We thought this was another great idea from the MedHelp Community and we're pleased to announce we've just launched Notes. We now have 9 themed notes that you can quickly write to other members, simply by hovering over their name and clicking "Leave a Note". Most recent notes will appear right on the members profile, and we've added a new tab called "Notes" where all of them will be listed.

Leave a quick note for a friend and try it out! Thanks for the terrific ideas, and keep the feedback coming.

I think the notes are OK.  Not something I would have thought to request, but they may come in handy.

How about being able to put smiley faces on a post? Now that could be useful. The ones that have some short saying to them, like smiley with thumbs up saying "Way to go !" Smiley face that says "Welcome to the forum"  etc etc.

Notes are kinda impersonal?...like pre-canned...like when my friends give me bath and body works for my birthday!   Some will enjoy tho I am sure

Not a fan at all. It is going to take time away from the forum posts. We already have personal messages and now this too.......tooooooo much. This is a forum for addiction and this is just going overboard. Personal messages are more than enough to be able to talk to one certain person. Just my thoughts.

IMPORTANT POINT FOR MEDHELP TO THINK ABOUT:

Our moods are a very important on how someone is feeling. It tells us if someone is in need of helpp but too scared to post or things like that!! These notes keep bumping people's moods so fast that if someone puts in their mood that they are in need of help, we may never see it because of all these notes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think they make it look too cluttered . I think PM's  were fine....

I totally agree with that................the mood changes are way more important than silly notes........I noticed that too.  Very Good Point

When you contact them about the notes, can you ask them for spell check? I'm actually a really good speller but I type too fast and it makes me look like a dummy! I already put my request in for it.

Spell check ....great idea! With all the short hand we use though i wonder if it would actually be more of a pain?

how about putting the notes in a seperate column so the moods don't get bumped as fast!?

Carry-out breakfast, lunch, and/or dinners would be good too...for the times we can't drag ourselves away from the computer to  cook meals!!!  LOL

Spell check comes up on mine. It is a red line under the word that requires a right click with your mouse.

LMAO!!!! In all seriousness, they need to not put it where the moods go and I have even thought: who gives a vrap if Confused456 left a comment on Confused456's journal.....whiipy....that too takes away from the moods. I do like the journal showing up on the side, but where we see that we have a pm they need to add journal comments and then its not taking away from the moods either. I am just pointing my own thoughts, and as for a seperate box for the notes.....nope....sorry but we have enough going on in these pages. I do not think it needs to be advertised that i left me a note........again, just my own thoughts.

How about in addition to spell-check, a dictionary of this new-fangled (how's that for making sound like an old fogey) computer lingo. Fortunately, I have a teenager so I can ask her what LMAO, JK, BTW, TTYL, LOL, etc. mean but that only reinforces my age and lack of "cool" factor with her. Usually get a roll of the eyes too. jk. ttfn.

WE will see, give it a week or so,whats the harm.

The harm is that sometimes ppl put their mood up as a cry for help but do not want to post....we need to be able to see their mood!

I agree that the moods should stay the focus.  I also think the notes should be a personal thing.....not for everyone else to see.

Send MedHelp your thoughts! Way too much going on, I think it detracts from the job at hand.
