Is Tramadol a Controlled Substance?

I have been reading alot of posts on this forum and they are great!!! Isn;t Technology a wonderful thing??
Anyways, I see alot of posts regarding tramadol/ultram on this site. I am confused. . . nothing new there! LOL!!! I had knee surgery several years ago/started me on percs/then gave me tramadol. I remember asking BOTH the surgeon AND the pharmacist if it was A controlled Substance. Both ASSURED me No it was Not, and I do not really remembering catching any kind of buzz on it. . . . . Was not on it for very long. . .maybe a month????
Any thoughts?????? I need to educate myself if the professionals want to give it to me again in the future.

Don't end up like me. Please continue to read the tramadol stories and please go to the forum littlebit667 gave u on the tramadol recovery center. I would still be on this had I not come accross the medhelp site by accident. I was looking for info on a medication my mom was given and I kept seeing the word tramadol. I am slowly tapering off of it. I never got a high either and that's what *****. If I am going to suffer from withdrawl, you would of thought I got something out of it LOL!! My husband is messaging my legs as I type this, because RLS (restless leg syndrone) is one of the withdrawl symptoms. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE!!

A lot of the doctors do not know that is is addictive.  They are believing the pharmaceutical reps and not doing their own research. It is very sad.

Just Read A ton!!!!! It appears The Professionals were lieing to me??? Has this happened to others?
The LAST THING I Would want to get involved in was getting addicted to something my doctors told me I couldn't happen. But, as I mentioned it was about 5 years ago. . . . so perhaps things have changed??
