Please help I can't get off the ocys

Let me tell a bit about myself,  first I started taking 5 mg perks for back pain, I had fallen and seriously hurt my lower back. Then one became a couple a day, after the pain from the original injury went away I kept using just because they made me feel "great", I could do a whirlwin around my house and still have the energy to take care and have fun my with two children. Then it became and addiction I went from 5mg's to 40's then 80's. I have been taking at least 40mg's per day for the past year or so.  I have tried a few time to quit but I can not manage the discomfort in my back it's like the pain it worse now. I go about 2 days and I can't stand it anymore and I start using again and then I'm in the same vicious circle. Does someone know an easier way to do this. A couple weeks ago I went 7 days without and by the 6th day I was feeling good again, like myself again, then the very next day I couldn't even get off the couch. What's up with that?? I have 2 children that relly need me and I want to rid myself of this aweful habit but I'm having a hard time. And to boot they are costing me a fortune.  I am putting the pills before anything else in life and I hate myself for this!! I've heard about sabaxone does this really work?? If anyone knows anything please help me, I'm very upset with myself for even starting these darn things, please help

I just posted  a message, I'm almost at the 2 week mark withdrawing from oxycontin. with the help of klonopin and clonidine.  It's been a hell of a ride.  I too deal with chronic back pain that is always there but the pain level changes depending on what I do.  I was never one to sit and do nothing but the oxy's left me in a stupor.  I'm scared that I might cave again if the pain gets too bad so I'll try every possible avenue to relieve some of the pain.  At this time I'm taking a tylenol 3 every 4 hours (I hate them), along with that I take ibuprofen and I'm still in a lot of pain.  I think I hurt myself more when I was numbed out on the oxy's....What a bloody choice to make though but I'm trying really hard to suck it up and accept it and change my way of thinking.........

I have been on Suboxone for eighteen months, and I have been doing great. You are still in early stages of addiction, and tapering would be a good start to try to quit.Suboxone should be a last resort because ultimately- you will have to deal with withdrawals from it also.I have chosen to stay on it indefinitely because I abused drugs most of my life, and when I am without medication, I am a wreck.
Anyways, try tapering first- get support while you are doing it.It is hard and you have to be really strong, but people have done it.
then if all else fails, you could use Suboxone, but remember it is not a cure, it is a pill too- and you need to find a qualified doctor to prescribe it that follows a recovery program format, or you may wind up feeling cheated.

u can break that cycle....and only u can...the health pages is a great source of knowledge..many here are chronic painers and also addicts..there r ways of managing without losing urself in the process...being out of pain but losing urself to where there is no quality of life can be a choice to make...no quality with pain..no quality of laife strung out on pills and being broke either...been there/done thatnon-narc pain relief can actually help pain more...lots of them depending on ur pain. narcotics only interfere with the body's perception of pain..it doesnt really make the pain go away....sometimes it is a choice to make for painers...we r all different...but as tolerence goes up and up..i would worry/what will my dose be in 10 yrs?  it scared me

You CAN get rid of those pills...I am 45 days clean (hydro). It was hard..the wds are horrible..but making it thru 1wk was hell...but so worth it...make a plan, set a date, taper down....You can do this..Good Luck.

I am on Suboxone.  I am also a mother of 3.  I was taking 15 5mg percs a day and sometimes 40's or 80's.  Really whatever I could get my hands on.  I felt like such a loser and terrible mother.  One of my friends (that was also addicted to pills) went on Suboxone and said that he felt the best he did in 10 years.  I was at my wits end and decided to try it.  It was the best thing I ever did.  I only take .5mg a day (I have tapered from 6-8mg a day).  I am hopefully going to stop taking it altogether soon.  I tried to taper down off of the pills and couldn't do it.  If you go to the Suboxone website, www.suboxone.com it will tell you all that you need to know.  I found a great doctor that I pay $125 a month to see.  Some doctors will charge $250 a month (or week) plus group therapy every week.  I feel great and think that for once when your on the subs you'll feel "normal".  I forgot what that was like.  Let me know if you have any questions.
