My doctor didn't tell me the elavil would make me sleepy, but you're right.  It will knock you on your butt.  He put me on it because he said it would help my leg and back pain (since I'm no longer depending on the oxys, dang).  My elavil dosage is 50 mg, so it's something I'll get used to and he'll have to increase the dosage?

The amount of elavil you're on is exactly what I started on and didn't need an increase for nearly seven years. It's a antidepressant in the tricyclic family, but it helps anxiety and sleeping. I don't know why Drs don't give people a small dose to take for sleep instead of some of the highly addictive drugs.
You're Dr. might increase it later, but again, you might not need it upped for years.
