Length of withrawal from opana er

I've been taking opana er for a while to help with chronic pain. I'm so tired of living on pain medicine and want to stop. Can anyone please tell me what I can expect as far as how long I will be sick and just how sick I will get?

Read thur the post on here there are alot of home remedies, but basicly day four is the toughest after that it is easier eveyday, keep it up stay on here it will help and you will beat this, and we will help all we can, today is day seven four me and im doing pretty good just a few minor symtems of w/d and i had a large habit.

Opana is just morphine....when i withdrew from morphine I had vomiting (enough to let myself get dehydrated) ....... and severe abdominal cramps.  Use a heating pad or electric blanket for muscle aches and cramps - - drink plenty of good fluids - avoid caffeine and citrus - warm flat 7-up is good and so is white grape juice. Hot showers are a good thing. Look at the Health Pages - lwr rt hand side of page - for the Thomas Recipe and the Amino Acid Protocols .... they are both good. PM me if you feel like it ...

you may need to taper, opana is tough, i know that some people say that addicts cannot taper at home, but then the same people say that the best way to get off opiates is a slow taper
i guess it depends on the person and where they are at in life
i was unable to get myself clean in 04 without emergency help, but i went through chemo while i was 2 years clean, took pain meds for 3 months and did an at home taper without complications or return to use
your best approach would be to ask your pain clinic for help, i doubt you doctor will take the time to calculate a taper plan, but its worth a shot, atleast you can ask him for comfort meds
acute wd last about 3 weeks, and the post acute wd can last up to 2 years

sorry forgot to ask, what is the nature of your pain, do you think you can go without pills?

being that they are extended release..you can not cut them in half or anything...your doctor can lower your dose slowly and help u get off completely..good luck to u
