METHADONE DETOX
I AM BEING DETOXED OFF METHADONE, THE CLINIC I GO TO IS GOING TO START ME ON DETOX TODAY, THEY WILL BE ADMINATRIVATLY DETOXING ME SO IT WILL NOT BE GRADUAL IT WILL BE VERY FAST. I AM OFF HEROIN FOR 38 DAYS NOW AND HAVE BEEN ON METHADONE FOR MOST OF THE DAYS, I HAVE A REALLY GOOD MIND SET AND AM HOPING I CAN GET SOMEONE TO HELP ME WITH THIS, I HAVE BEEN READING THE FORUM AND HAVE WROTE DOWN ALL THE VITAMINS THAT I NEED TO TRY AND TAKE, I AM SO VERY NERVOUS HOWEVER I KNOW I WILL GET THROUGH IT. BUT IF ANYONE ELSE HAS ANY ADVICE FOR ME PLEASE LET ME KNOW. IT SEEMS THAT ALL THE POSTINGS THAT I HAVE READ ARE FROM 2001 AND IT IS 2007!! I KNOW SUBOXONE IS GOOD HOWEVER I AM OFF DRUGS THEREFORE MY FUNDS ARE LOW, I SOLD DRUGS TO ENABLE MY HABBIT AND NOW I AM COMPLETLY CLEAN, NO DRUG SELLING OR DRUG DOING. MY FRIEND HAS 10 10MG METHADONE PILLS AND I AM ON 70 MGS LIQUID THROUGH THER CLINIC. I AM STAYING AT MY BROTHERS AND I WILL HAVE TO DETOX AROUND HIM,HIS WIFE,THEIR 2 KIDS AND MY 2 KIDS, SO I AM HOPING THAT SOMEONE WILL GIVE ME GOOD ADVICE.

What about the person with long term pain, I've never been an addict, but am dependent. I m getting off of methadone and onto Morphine Sulphate to control consistant severe pain. I can't do something that will block the Morphine, but want to detox the body fat from the methadone as fast as possible.
I cut down from 80 mg a day to 15 mg, then stopped methadone. I'm now on the Morphine and have Oxycodone if the pain gets to bad to use PRN.
I wish I could get by with nothing, but that's not to be, I was injured 25 years ago and have been in pain ever since, on narcotics the last 12 years, methadone for about 1.5 years.
I'm doing fairly good, but still feel like crap. Is there anything beside vitamans (which I'm doing) that can help me get the drug out of the fat in my body?

hi me too help me plz get of this stuff im down to 18mg Methadone, but i am using benzos esp valium any advice i need some support here i dont have it much at home, the lack of sleep drives me insane the most but im hanging in there i think benzo's are just adding to the problem of sleep i need some support plz. Ya,, you have to taper of methadone otherwise you are going to have a very hard time. I would check into a detox center if you have no choice. But if you are clean from heroine using methadone thats great ,, I think methadone is a great drug for heroine. It has a long life and if you taper you may not feel any withdraw whats so ever just do it proper and don't cut fast. I did 5% a week in liquid ,

You will be sick you will feel tired, cold , hot, not sleeping, etc etc etc but you both have one thing going for you and that is yo have not been on it for a long period of time and I think that helps having gone through 21 day detox before it seemed easier to me. And don't be too surprised about the fact that the program will up you dose anytime you want..That is their insurance, but you can beat it just remember it takes time..I hear people say wow day 18 or day 20 and I feel great well you might but at day 18 1/2 or 21 1/2 it may bite you in the ass again it is important to get involved in something. I recommend N.A. but you have to decide that and find things to do at night read helps. I wish I could say their is a perfect way to do this but the only thing that keeps me glued together is talking with my creator and meetings reading this damn computer and whatever else I can do to occupy my brain to forget..right now I am still sick and it has been about 3-wks but I also took it for a long time and more than I probably needed..But hey I am an addict and it was my job to be addicted..( I am in the process of changing occupations) so hang in their and will post when I can and you do the same O.K. a-wakan
Listen...It is almost impossible to detox from that much methadone in one day. I was on 90mg of Meth for 5 years through the local methadone clinic. I was administratively discharged and went through the "bad" detox. They still tapered my doses but only at a much faster rate. Let me tell you this...for over a month I wished I was dead. Methadone gets stored in your bone marrow and thats why us junkies need only one dose per day. The initial w/d from long term methadone use just get started around day ten. Day 30-60 becomes more bearable.
Good luck if you can do it. I am having a hard enough time detoxing off pain pills. Trazadone worked for me and it let me get some sleep. Also alot of motrin because the bone aches come right along with methadone detox. I will never use methadone again.

I'am new to this site. I was reccamended to these forums by my Aunt. I was addicted to all the pain killers, but found myself snorting oxy80mg a few times a day. It controlled my life, and when i did not use. i experienced the most hellish withdrawls of my life. i vomited for 3 days straight!! NO JOKE! I was unable to eat, drink,sleep,and basicly not even function as a human. Not to mention the HUGE spider web of LIES i have told to all of my loved ones. even my girlfriend didnt know. that was the worst, lying to her. I used for 3 years. and have tried almost everything: cold turkey, easing off, cold turkey again. It didnt work for me. I relapsed 3 times in a month. Again lying to my family and girlfriend saying i QUIT but really i was still using. I felt so guilty and crappy and depressed that i went to my doc and got on an anti-depressant. i took that for one day, i didnt like the after effect in the morning, and again felt like i should do it the manly way and say to myself; i am not depressed, i have the energy to work, and so on. but in reality i didnt have the strength. but i did stop the anti-depressant. (good choice im proud of that one)

I thought this is great all i have to do is take methadone for the 21 day program i signed up for, and in 21 days i will be free!!! YEA F'N RIGHT!!!!!! I liked the high that methadone did so, i increased my dose every other day. By the way, the counselors were happy to increase me and did it with no questions asked, and was able to get the higher dosage THAT DAY! I was addicted to methadone. DAMNIT i thought, i came here to get rid of my addictions, now i am addicted to this sh*t and its costing me my ability to work, and it costs $235 a month! I am now taking 110mg a day. Unable to get Take-Homes cuz i havent been there for 3 months ive only been for 6 weeks. CrAzY 40mg to 110mg in 6 weeks. THIS PROGRAM IS A GOVERNMENT RUN NIGHTMARE to get users off the street doing drug deals and murders, and break ins.

I was invited to my Grandmothers for a lunch, knowing my family was there i kinda thought that something was going to happen. and of course it did. it didnt take but 5 minutes for one of my cousins to tell me that im in for the worst week of my life trying to get off methadone and saying "GOD im glad im not you right now". you should have never gotten on this sh*t. The program and myself was shot down by everyone in the family because they all talk to each other everyday about me and saying that it is controlling their life too and they cant handle it anymore.(This is all just from me doing the methadone program) Anyway i was told to go to this site and read the comments people have said. I have noticed that most users here have been on meth for years and years and the withdrawls seem like the end of the world. i have only been on meth for 6 weeks. My family said that they want me to quit COLD TURKEY do not go to methadone, do now taper off, quit 110mg to zero in one day.
Amazingly, im going to do it. Knowing the consequences i have decided this will be best, because taking meth is only PROLONGING the inevitable; HELL.
Today is day 1.
I want to thank all the positive people here who have helped me make my choice. You are all good humans. Does anyone have any advice for me to make this easier for me?????

Does anyone know if your brain and body can tell the difference from say
being on Methadone or Oxy? Unfortuneatly,I have been using Oxy to battle
the devastating withdrawls from stopping a 4 year 80mg Methadone habit. I'm
on day 9 of no Meth,but was told by a person at a detox facility,that if I stop
the Oxy now,that I'll be right back at day 1 again. As if I've been wasting my
time fighting this nightmare,all for nothing. Can someone give me an idea if
this may be true to some extent,or they are just telling me that to scare me
into a $3,ooo 42 day detox,which I don't have the money for. I'm really scared
now. Thanks in advance for everyone's help on this terrific forumn.

1200 miles away,for the last damn time. Told him I went Cold Turkey on the
Done,and that I would have never took it,if I knew all the damaging effects it
would cause me,especially stopping it.LOL. This drug is no joke,i've done almost every drug,and nothing compares to the "Done". It's my 8th day off of
that garbage. Told the doc I will never touch it for as long as I live. Got a script
for a weeks worth of Valium instead of the Done,and I have to say that,now that the worst withdrawl symtoms are over,the most agonizing week of my life
was defineatly worth it,no matter how much I wanted to slit my veins.The courage to beat that drug,and any drug,for that matter,is one of the best feelings,even better than getting high. What a "sweet" feeling,telling the Dr. that I didn't want another months supply of the Done,after 4 years of it,"PRICELESS". NEVER GIVE UP,IF MY SORRY BUTT CAN DO IT,SO CAN

I am now 6 days off the methadone totally. I tapered with the dr.s help. He was the one who prescribed it and he told me , after i was in withdrawels, that he has never seen anyone get off of it before. I hope he thinks more than twice before he prescribes it for anyone again. you are right. it is the worst.

enough is enough and did a very gradual drop over one weekend to 10mg.OMG!! What a BIG MISTAKE!! My pain management Dr. put me on that
**** for my hip replacement pain along with high mg's of Roxi. While on the
meth,I could just stop the Roxi cold turkey and just get a hot sweat the next day and that was my Roxi withdrawls. I'm sure I don't have to say what happened to me when I stopped the meth cold turkey. I've had no sleep for about 6 days now,with the damn tremors driving me insane most of the night and day. Did I mention the 4 Emergency Room visits for the panic attacks. The
only thing that stops my tremors enough so I don't go ballistic is self medicating with Oxy,but still can't sleep. The first night that the withdrawls peaked,about 24 hrs. after my last meth dose,I took an Ambien,and slept a few hours,that's it. I'm so friggin tired,but can't sleep for my life.Can't even smoke pot,since whatever meds I was taking a while ago gave me some wickedly bad reactions,I'm afraid to even try it now.Just my luck.Anyway,anyone that reads this must think I'm the stupidest person on the
planet,but knowledge is power,unfortunately,I learned of the nightmares of methadone detoxing when I was too far into my withdrawl.I willnot touch that
**** for anything now,I've suffered way too damn much to ever want to take
another meth pill for as long as I live,which is amazing that I survived this past
week that's been the worst experience in my entire life,and believe me when I
say,my life has not been a strole in the park.Hat's off to all that are kicking

Well, there are so many dr.s and cliniqs that u can go to, that will help u free. or at least for a low cost. My doctor is 350.00 for the whole detox, with meds and with the naltrexone...
I know money it tight, but is there anyone that would help you out just to get through it. I mean, if u go cold turkey after Methadone, the odds of u relapsing are strong cause it is gonna be hard...Maybe not, some are alot stronger than others, but I am sure u need all the help you can get and the suboxone would be perfect for you. Where do u live, I can send u some info on finding a Suboxone or Naltrexone dr to get u through the w/d-detox period...

Ok, JPipes, I will try to help u the best i can..although its two different addictions and I detoxed once with Methadone and once with Suboxone and now with Naltrexone/Burenorphine...all for my 700mg a day Oxy addiction. hope I can help in some way.
I was not a fan of the Methadone detox, I found that it was harder then just quitting cold turkey. Did u say that after the methadone ur dr. is putting u on Suboxone? If you can avoid being alone throughout your w/d or detox, please do it. I had to do it alone, still go to work, and take care of my daughter all while going through withdrawal. It was, and still slightly is a nightmare. I am now 16days clean and feeling better by the day. I did the Brenorphine needles and am now on Naltrexone pills for 5 days, then I will be opiate free and my brain won't acknowledge my previous addiction...
Recovery is different for everyone. How long were u using heroin? Read everyone's post. Everyone is so helpful on here. I got so many tips on coping with withdrawal.. Are u in an outpatient type thing? My dr. gave me meds to help me with the w/d symptoms. I can tell u what they were and what they helped with...Just let me know...
Get the vitamens, Thomas Recipe, they will definitely give u a little boost of energy as you will find that u will need it.
