Melatonin takes awhile to build in your system as it is natural. I started at 10 mg. But I was on prescription sleep meds for years so have a high tolerance to anything that is supposed to make me sleepy (: I would recommend starting at 5 mg. Hope you get some rest. It's great for resetting your sleep/wake schedule after detox. My addiction doctor said it was the # 1 thing he recommends. Wishing you well.

Melatonin would kick in after a couple of hours for me. Normal sleep returns after awhile. I can't take melatonin or valerian root anymore, its too strong and I am groggy in the morning.
It will work only if your room is absultly dark no lights at all ...hope this helps......................Gnarly
