Methadone addiction

I am currently taking 5 mg of Methadone a day in doses of 1/4 tablet every 4 hours. I have to get off the methadone in order to pass 4 random drug tests this year to keep my professional licese!!! I am down to the wire and have three days to pass a clen urine. I have tried several times to be successful at withdrawing independently and cannot seem to get through the third day. My stomach feels like it is gnawing a whole into my backbone and my arms, shoulders and legs burn like hell!!!My legs are restless while in bed nad I feel like I must get up and run for releif. I have tried taking wellbutrin for the severe anxiety but I feel like my chest will explode and cannot sleep. I take Advil for the pain...sure!! and I soak in a eucalyptic Bath. I have got to find out what is successful. It is a matter of livelihood,career,and personal importance. Please Help!

I have to take a drug test to work in a lab at ST Josephs (no drugs in the lab)  is it true if I disclose before the drug test and get a note from my MD or have the lab call, when I test positive for methadone they dont tell the lab because of some HIPPA law? Do they even check for methadone?  Tell me what you knoe sbout the subject.  ZThanks in advance!

Hey there. I was on methadone for alomost a year. I was up to 80mgs per day. Let me tell you that the w/d from that was hell! like the others said, this w/d lasts longer than the normal narc withdrawal. I made it a week and ended up substituting percocet and vicodin for the methadone. Now I could kick myself in the ass b/c I was almost home free and I knocked myself back to square one:( Try your best to taper. If you get the wafers break them apart. Even if you experience w/d it can't be as bad as c/t. that's the thing about methadone, it's just as if not more addicting than vics and percs. Good luck with whatever you decide. this forum is awesome for advice!

I don't know much about Meth. except it is hard to pull from but it sounds like maybe you are doing well with your taper but maybe need to talk with a doctor about witdrawal symptoms.  As far as the stomach pain, sounds like maybe Pepcid or Tums might help...I have to rely on those after taking Fiorinal (with aspirin, it hurts my stomach).  Hang in there, you will make progress with patience.  Hope you pass your tests.

I just get to where I think I'm off the codeine and getting through the all the symptoms of withdrawal, then I get a whopping migraine, can't stand it and have to take a pill. It usually won't take care of it, so have to take another and another until I get at least 3 in my system to have the headache leave me.  Then I have the amount in me that my body needs, and have to go through all the pains of withdrawal AGAIN!  I hve been going in this circle for so long.....for months...I don't think I can EVER get off it!  What a bummer....I've tried so hard.  I've had lots of burning also, only throughout my whole body...no fun! I've tried about every other migraine pill...nothing works but codeine.

i dont know if i can help you but i do know what your going through. i was on 120mgz of methodone a day but am now only on 70mgs a day. methodone to me is the hardest drug to withdraw from no matter what amount your on cuz it seeps in to your muscles and bones wich makes withdrawals HURT BAD and withdrawals last up to 30 to 40 days! i been on methodone for 4 years n im dyn to get off but im stuck at 70mgs. i get SO sick if i take any less than that. by the way..if your takn it legaly they cant say anythng

Anyone who has legit Scripts for ANYTHING.  Can take the Drug test and pass.

All you need do is tell them up front that you have a script...there are different # of panels, each company uses something different.  

Because of HIPPA laws, where you go for your test ... they can't even pass the info onto the Co., and tell them what you are taking.  Keep in mind this is for legit Rx's...

Now with that being said... last time I went for a Drug Screening, even with the Legit Scripts.. they asked on a form what I was taking.. I told them... but they never asked to see the meds, called the Dr., etc.

I am still in awe at some of this stuff that is available on the street....If you have a legit script.. and don't want to take the chance of having your Co find out ... there is stuff you can buy at the health food store.  You drink a bottle of this..follow directions on the bottle and it does mask certain stuff.  It's nasty...and it's expensive, and you have to drink tons of water after you take it...but there is a time frame..so you will need to read the directions carefully.   I honestly don't know what it will do with Methadone.  There's tons of info about it on the web.

I know drug screening is a part of keeping and getting a job, I don't like the fact that companys get into my personal biz.

I almost called a Meth clinic to get off of my Vics... I'm sure glad now I just didn't trade one addiction for another.  Seems brutal for everyone who goes through it.

I'm really getting old.. and I just never street shopped but I thought Methadone was such a controlled substance it would never be available on the street.   As I said I'm old.

Thanks to everyone who has responded to my delima. I find at this moment that having a non-jugemental forum to turn to is making me feel better already. The screens are random and the Board I have to answer to expects any scripts to be directed to them from the MD. Once I went through the most horrific withdrawal imaginable and ended up with an ambu ride to the ER where I was treated like a monster! Even the rad tech smacked my arm away from her four times when they were doing an abdominal scan!! The MD was not sympathetic at all! Sent me home with Phenagran. I guess I didn't say I was vomiting uncontrollably for approx 4 hours! And the pain I was experiencing in my legs and abdomin was Horrific!! So that being said I do not trust anyone but myself to maintain my health and dignity. I am looking for a quick fix I guess but I have come a long way from 10 years of self-medicating with opiates. I told my man that I learned of an herbal colon cleanse that is a two step with a herbal detoxifyer. I am going to try this and continue to taper myself to taking only slivers and residue. Hope it works!

I'm not sure how soon you have to be off of the methadone. Are they random, so you don't know when you will be asked to take them?? You do know it will be 4 of them, correct??

You could taper and make yourself more comfortable, but you would be on it much longer. If you're going c/t, I don't know how long it takes for methadone withdrawal, but I'm sure some of the people on this site will know more.

I know that you can stop c/t, and the w/d is anything but nice. It sounds like you know that, though. I have the opposite problem. I'm going on methadone possibly to get off fentanyl transdermal pain patches.
