I came here taking more meds than I should . I wasnt taking them for the high I was taking them because I was scared to hurt. I went to my doctor on Wednesday and was told that I am looking at a surgery to remove all my girlie parts so that this pain will stop. Three times this weekend I was at the womens hospital to get shots of Demerol. They seem to help but at this point I dont feel that I need to be on a Addiction forum, I am not an addict in my mind, I take the meds for serious health reasons. And not taking them means that I cant be a mother or wife because I have to stay in bed. I talked to my doctor about this and he says there isnt anything to worry about in 8 weeks after the surgery we will taper and be done with them. I just feel like im in a different boat than others here . I wish all of you the best and hope that you all get what you need in the long fight that you have ahead. God bless all of you

I had the surgery in 2006 and sailed through it.  I went back to teaching 2 weeks agter the surgery and haven't had any problems since.  I still have both of my ovaries though.  Good luck to you.

Having a hysterectomy was one of the best things I ever did. I suffered terribly.
You may want to ask your doctor if they can leave 1 ovary, so you don't start menopause yet...you're still very young.

Good luck on your surgery! From what I understand you will feel so much better and it will be great to be pain free AND off the meds!

You will feel so much better after having that surgery.  I had it done in 1985 or 6.......been so long ago!!!!  I wish you the best.                  sara
