What are you doing up at this hour? Or is this typical for you?
im a night owl always have been my nights are my days lol how are u
I've always been one too....it's just that this PAWs anxiety at night is making me way more vampiric. I get completely claustrophobic, restless, heart-pounding, hands and feet sweating, you know the drill. I wouldn't mind being up if that was gone....looking forward to the day when it will be.
wat is PAWS I HAVE INSOMNIA REAL BAD
Post Acute Withdrawl Syndrome. Check out the Health Pages on the lower right-hand side of the screen...it'll spell it all out for you...
Yeah babe, I'm only averaging 4 hours of sleep, usually only every other night...I was lucky to have gotten 5 last night..
welcome to the forum those cravings are a *****!
Good morning guys...hope you are doing well...sorry for your lack of sleep. Have you tried any valerian root or melatonin?
I miss my restful sleep too...last night we tossed and turned so much that this morning I am aching worse than I have in awhile....but thank God we are off methadone.
Tried everything guys....I've been dealing with it since the beginning, but at least get a few hours now....at 62 days out. The PAWs thing is a bit** to be sure, but my mind is strong as he&& and I've been fighting it every step of the way.
Im sorry youre still having sleep issues...i had them too for awhile but now I sleep pretty good (for me anyhow). Ive always been a bit of a poor sleeper/insomniac my whole life but lately Ive been sleeping too good. IF i sleep too many hours straight without waking my stupid TMJ acts up bad and i wake up with my jaw locked shut and in a panic trying to get it open so i can breathe!!! (my nose is always stuffy so i have a hard time breathign if i cant open my damn mouth! its awful!!) ANyways, do you read fiction or books of any kind? that is wht I always do when I cant sleep. I love love love to read though and have a book around all the time.
Hey trouble,
Yeah, I've been having sleep/anxiety issues since this started. I've always been an insomniac to some degree, but this has been, interesting to say the least. I have wanted to be here every night, but still don't have the internet on my laptop, so I've got to go to the desk and risk waking up the husband. I also have TMJ, I'm always "cracking" it open, or to just get it to close, although it's not so much an issue for me anymore than it once was. I've got your nose too! A real mouth breather over here..pretty ain't it? I've got some damned sinus thing-y for the past few weeks and a cough, either of which helps matters much. All that being said, I'm dealing with the physical stuff, like all that, and pain, pretty well. My head is strong. I've been dealing with the sleep/anxiety stuff fairly well too I suppose considering I'm still sane, and otherwise happy. I just cannot lay down when I'm feeling it the worst. I know it will all pass, and that helps me tremendously. It's seriously reduced from what it was in the beginning, thank God! I haven't panicked in a long while. I felt it pretty strongly after getting 5 hours, at around 3:30 a.m. and sat around dealing with it until about 5:30 or so, then it was time to take charge. I do love to read, but when I'm so antsy, I'm not at all sure I could do it. I feel the need to move big-time, and getting on the computer seems to help since my hands are moving, and my head is occupied.
If you find a way to sleep please let me know too. For the last several months I have only been getting an hour or two sleep at a time. I will be tired and got to be and then wake up over and over again. Sometimes I will be able to go back to sleep and sometimes not. On average I would say that I am getting 4-5 hrs of sleep, but not continuios (sp). I talk to my Dr about it and all he suggested was to take meletonan, so I started last night. He said it would take about 2-3 weeks to start working.
Believe me, if I find anything that works, I'll be posting a huge one on it! Good luck with the Melatonin, it did not work for me. In case you're wondering what it is by the way, it's a hormone that's produced by the pineal glad at night. ...
I'm doing the same way for sleep as you, with anxiety before, in-between, and after any sleep I do get. I more or less pass out from exhaustion than I do fall asleep, but I'll take what I can get at this point.
Good luck to you tonight....if not, I'll be here..
last night was the start of my 2nd day but i have hard times sleeping at night because i work overnight so i dont usually sleep until 7am..but last night i took 2 unisom OTC sleeping pills, maximum strength. i also took 4 of these otc meds called hylands restful legs from CVS and in about a half hour i was knocked out for 5 hours which is an accomplishment in its own, none the less while w/d
I tried everything, but nothing knocks me out, and usually makes things worse. I'm glad it helped you though, maybe it'll help someone else as well. I'll live I'm sure, and to tell you the truth I'd take the not sleeping bit over the night-time/a.m. anxiety any day.
I"m so glad you got some rest! Good job making it this far.....it's tough!~!!! You can do it!
I find that in the mornings when I have those yucky thoughts it is best to get on up and get moving...still kinda clammy when i wake up sometimes...course the humidity is like 90 percent here today....you know there are some great non-habit forming anti-depressents that help you sleep...amitryptilline for one...i took it for 2 years after my divorce and slept like a rock...i went to the doc because i could not sleep....i sleep pretty good now...rarely i have a bad night..they also prescibe those type meds for migraines and chronic pain and that is why I have them now.....just a suggestion and i do know melatonin works for many...sleep tight tonite...off 2 work
West coast checking in. Sorry that the sleep issues are hitting you Jacqui.
Melatonin knocks me out, but I never did have sleep troubles. FYI you can take up to 10mg safely.
I have to move in some way when the heebie-jeebies hit. That's what I do, either get up, or butt dance in the sofa to my mp3 player. I'm up almost every night all night long with the exception of about 4 hours, but that isn't the worst part, it's the damned jumpiness that's there. I have tried Melatonin, Valerian Root, every o-t-c med., Ambien, and even a drink. I think it's just something that will have to get better over time, and it certainly is better than the 15 min. I was getting in the first few weeks! Distraction by far has helped me to deal with this thus far, and I can't thank you guys enough for that.
My wife has what I call the Barbie-Doll syndrome. She lies down and her eyes go shut and she is asleep, it is so unfair.
I'd kill for that.....my husband has the same condition, except I guess it would be Ken Syndrome? The man's snoring before his eyes are even shut.
if sleep was possible this process would be near painless...the worst is when you get the mind state of jus one pill and i would be out cold that is the real struggle for me..good luck everyone keep pushin
I also only get 2-4 hours asleep at night and that is still on hydro. Now that I am stopping that, I know the sleep issue will be a whole lot worse. I am going to try some different things and if I find something that will help me, I will for sure share.
