Opiate Withdrawl Hell.

Ugh. I hate that I am here all over again. I have been on pain killers ranging from 5-10 norcos a day and am going cold turkey after 6 months of daily use. I was prescribed for a pain condition and my mother passed away and I was overreliant on them to dull my emotional pain.

I'm already withdrawling, almost at the end of day 1, my pupils are huge, eyes watering, I'm sore all over,  feel like it just hurts to breathe. I have 60 cholondine, 6 valium, 10 ativan, and a few ambien to help me sleep.

How long is this going to last, when will it peak, I feel like I'm going to die. It's what ended my mother's life after 20 years of addiction.

Any advise would help, I'm so glad I stumbled on this website.

Thanks,

Robert

No it will NOT kill you even though at times you may feel like your dying ,but once you get over the hump like I said (3-4) days usually  it will slowly get better. give yourself a chance and definately get rid of ALL the pain pills you have left you will constantly be running back to them if you know there available and you start feeling really sh-y! Now the suboxone DO NOT take it until you are really feeling wd symptoms!!! If you take it to close to the last time you took opiates and aen't in wd yet you will get REALLY sick!!! I did do suboxone before and for a short time (it's addicitng and h-ll to get off). So if you go that route wait till you ae in full wd start w/ a half see how you feel then if you need to take another half then go as long as you can b4 taking another dose....3 should carry you through the worst days and yes clonidine will help just take it as neede for anxiety!!Good luck stay strong and keep posting updates GO FOR IT!!!

No you won't die. Detox is miserable but won't kill you. First thing you need to do is get rid of any pain pills you have......flush them.  It will be almost impossible not to take them during detox. You really can't have them around. Then get yourself some Imodium and hunker down for a week. You can do this and will feel so much better after. The meds you have will help you through but use them carefully. You can get very sick if you take Suboxone too soon after taking pain pills. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids as it's very common for people to dehydrate during detox.
You should go to the top of this page, to the right and click on Health Pages. Look for the Thomas Recipe. It will let you know what to expect and helpful hints. Please keep reading and posting on here. You will get tons of support. Now go get this over with. There is a whole new clean life waiting for you.

Oh my god not at all! I have hated having to take these stupid pills for months, I remember how much I loved the energy it gave me and now I would trade everything to take it all back.

I felt so sick at like 20 hours that I took a few percocet, I am so emotionally done I could just jump off a bridge.

Withdrawl isn't going to kill me is it? I mean I do have the clonodine, does that help? Will ativan help? I didn't take those, I forgot about them. I don't understand suboxone and it scares me to try something like that.

I just need to know that I'm not going to die trying to get better. :-/

I spent almost every penny of my savings on this and am at the point where I'm either gonna get better or be on the streets. I'm ready to get this done, no more from here on out! Please just tell me I won't die, :-[

Any prayers would be nice.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mother. For most the worst last 4-5 days and usually gets better from there. I hope your not just getting clean for this drug test, but because your ready. It's such a viscious cycle and addiction is a progressive disease. Your so young man and could put an end to this before it gets even worse, cause I promise it will. Look into some type of aftercare, staying clean is tough and most of us need a lil bit of help and support. Congrats on doing this!

I am assuming the sub is not from a dr, so just be careful with that, i don't know much about sub tho. Look into the health pages here in the top right under the thomas recipe, it can help with your w/d's. Good luck and remember why your doing this! B tough!

I haven't really gotten to that point yet, my dr. and family support me, but I also have the threat of being kicked out by my family if I don't test clean next Friday. I'm so scared, I have an amazing family who are supportive but who don't want to let me let myself lose to this addiction.

I also have 3 8 mg. suboxione, I have heard of people using 1/2 for a couple days, then 1/4 for a couple days and it taking the edge off the detox.

:-/

I feel so freakin' helpless.

There's no saying exactly how long the wd will last everyone is different. Day 3 is usually the worst and it gradually gets better...hopefully It sounds like you have an abundance of other meds to help you through but becareful and I would use them sparingly! Also becareful w/ the ambien it could have a reverse effect on you b/c your wd from opiates, I've heard more than once of people coming off opiates that took ambien and get 1-2 hrs of really restless sleep w/ crazy dreams then lie there awake all night! You don't see it given in alot of detoxes usually trazadone, seroquel, melatonin(which is otc). Sleep will probably be your biggest hurdle but you can do it!! best of luck p.s Obviously you know first hand the true nature of addiction and I would hate for you to battle 20 yrs only to lose in the end...so that said have you set up aftercare plans or therapist??? just a thought???
