i have been takeing 80mg of oxycontin for almost 3 years and i wanna go on methadone but i wanna know more about it first and i also wanna know how its going to make me feel i need some advice please help me doc!

I am not certain that you are aware of this, but there are no doctors here in this particular forum. This is a place where addicts help each other to get off and stay off of drugs, alcohol, etc.

I have to say that Methadone is extreme for 80 mgs of Oxycotin. I do think you will have a much bigger problem is you go that route. There are certainly other avenues you can take to get off the meds, and if you would like to explore them, please ask. This is a wonderful place to get advise and there is always someone here who can help you.

Are you wanting to go on methadone as a detox method ?  I guess what I'm asking is are you wanting to get off drugs ?   If so please don't go on methadone. It said to be  far more difficult to get off methadone than oxy.  Also there is Suboxone to consider. Keep posting. There are many wonderful people here to help.

i think you should try tapering down or take less and less everyday until your at such a low amount you can just quit without withdrawls being to bad, good luck its a tough process, and a lifelong comitement

Why have you been taking oxy? Are you in alot of pain or did you get addicted after taking them for surgery or something?
I am an addict. I started taking opiatates for pain and liked how they made me feel and got addicted . The addiction was more painful than the pain I have. I take aleve to take the edge off of my pain.
Don't get the idea that the withdrawals are going to go on and on forever. The physical part will be hardest the first 3 days then it will get better daily. If you decide to get clean there are so many great people here to give good advice.
I haven't seen anyone ID themselves as Doctors. To get clean I got a script for 15 5mg valium, every 8 hours. And ambien 5 tabs for the first few nights. It was hard but not as hard as being addicted for sure.
