Tramadol needs to be tapered due to the risk of seizures. How much are you taking a day?
I have been prescribed Tramadol 50 mg twice a day. Even though I never
took more than the recommended dose I quickly developed tolerance. I did not increase the dose. Even at this low dose I went through withdrawal
just to see if I could get off the drug. Only the first 3 days were really
unbearable but by day 5 I was doing fine and by day 7 was out of the woods.
The natural way to get off the drug is to tell yourself that the worst is over
in 5 days not matter what. But if you are on a higher than recommended dose you need to taper and not quick cold turkey as I did. My dose was low enough to just drop it. It's a mind trick to make it through the first 3 days/nights. Be strong for just that amount of time and then withdrawal will ease off.
You will get zero sleep for 3 -4 days. It helps to take a short course of low dose valium if you have a doctor to help you. Only 3 days on the valium and no more. No alcohol consumption.
Hi lil_love_fan, this forum is mainly used for Physical and Mental abuse, while the Addictions, Substance Abuse, is a forum where your question may get the most traffic. Also, when you're on the forums page, on the right side there's a box called community search, where you can type "tramadol withdrawal" and a few threads will come up with that information specifically, also asked by members here. My husband and myself have 14 years now clean and sober. (narcotics, alcoholic, cocaine and heroin ++) so, it can be done if you put in the aftercare hours. Never fear. God has given you everything you need to get your life back. We are loving life since getting clean and sober. Good luck to you~~,
For anyone to help answer your question, we must know some very important facts about your history with Trams. How long did you take them? How many a day were you on when you decided to quit? Any special reason you want to stop abruptly instead of tapering off safely??
Any history of seizures?
Why put your body through unneccessarly shocking withdrawal if you can help it? Most imortantly, what does your doctor recommend? All these Q.'s will help determine the best course of TX for your indivual needs. Good luck.
Check out a forum called "the recovery room" for Tramodaol users that want to get off.
